This is a rich season for fruit. There are nectarines, peaches, apricots, plums, pluots, and apples. Figs are starting to come into season, and there are still late strawberries and blueberries too. What fruit are you eating right now?
This is the time of year when you don't need to make dessert so often. Just serve a big platter of ripe nectarine slices, or a bowl of fresh apricots in cream.
What's your favorite fruit to eat right now?

Yep, we've been getting tons of stone fruit from our CSA fruit share in NYC--I've been making peach upside-down cakes in my cast iron skillet when we have too many peaches about to turn..
Mirabelle plums
loving nectarines! impossibly flavorful and juicy, especially with morning oatmeal.
peaches!
Nectarines and peaches mostly. I'm impatiently waiting for figs to make their way into season. I wish I'd learned I loved them years ago instead of just recently.
I've discovered fresh blueberries this summer. The ones from a farmers market are so much better than the ones from the store. I'm addicted!
We've gotten some champagne grapes in the local market, which are amazing. I also got some nice figs from Costco which were perfectly ripe.
Since I'm in Southern California, I have a wide variety: strawberries, plums, nectarines, peaches and apples have been in my meals lately. Yum!
We're currently binging on wild huckleberries we picked this last weekend on Mt. Rainier (near Seattle, WA). They are great plain, mixed with a sliced banana, in pancakes, with vanilla ice cream, in muffins, and I've been making jam with some of the 10 quarts we brought home.
local peaches, blueberries and sugarplums (plums about an inch in diameter) super sweet and delicious!
Peaches and grapes. The peaches are awesome right now.
I cannot stop eating peaches currently. And my house has a lot of apples so I'm considering making apple pie (it's oddly cool in DC today)
I should probably answer this by saying what I am NOT eating at the moment which is very easy: citrus fruit, cherries and apricots. Luckily being in Northern California means our growing seasons are long and there are alot of overlap between seasonal produce. I'm still loving plums, peaches, nectarines, melons, grapes, figs, berries of all colors, apples and pears. Bring it on!
a banana and some salty mixed nusts
Plums. We've got hundreds which have been given to us by well-meaning neighbors. And blackberries, when I can snag any wild ones.
Mmmm. Fresh figs (my fruit obsession) and donut peaches. I should grab a watermelon at the market, too.
Melancia, Morangos, amoras, bananas.
peaches, peaches and more peaches. I can't get enough. Have made peach pie, peach cupcakes, peach bbq sauce and am going to make salsa. Going to get my hands on more tomorrow at the market so I can freeze some and get through the winter :)
Peaches! So good... but they're expensive this year, because I guess it wasn't a good year for them around here. And have you seen a peach seed? They look kind of like an almond. I got one out today, and stuck it in some dirt to see what it will do.
Also trying to finish up some strawberries, mango, pineapple, making grape jelly (my juice is pink!). My Dad and Grandmother are really loving this cantaloupe we got. (Dad eats it with salt, Gram with salt and pepper...apparently a Texas/family thing? I think the stuff is nasty.)
Avocado and tomatoes right now too. My tomato plant, after putting out a measly 2 thick skinned, seedy tomatoes, is now putting on blooms again.
In North Carolina: watermelon, figs, and muscadine grapes. The sweetest peaches are already over for the season, but they had a good run. :)
I should add, lovely ripe Italian figs and peaches from Provence... (in addition to the Mirabelle de Loraine plums, which are out.of.this.world.good. )
I am in a blueberry phase right now; I am putting them on everything. I made up a cold "salad" that is just yummy! 8oz corn, 8oz, black beans, 4oz, diced tomatoes and 4oz blueberries - add just a sprinkle of salt and pepper and a spritz of lemon. This lasts me and the hubs a few days. I have become totally addicted and often just eat it without anything else. My husband loves it!
Peaches, peaches, peaches! :)
