"There is nothing worse than grilled vegetables."
"A cookbook is only as good as its poorest recipe."
"The secret of a happy marriage is finding the right person. You know they’re right if you love to be with them all the time."
Leite's Culinaria recently published these quotes, plus 22 more, from the inestimable Julia Child — all pulled from a single interview. (Wasn't she such a fount of wit and wisdom?)
Come see them all, and add your own favorite Child quotes too.
The quotes in this piece were gathered by Leite editor Renee Schettler Rossi from an Esquire piece written years ago by Mike Sager. This list of Child quotes embodies so much of the energy that made her such a star and lasting inspiration — it's a great read!

What are your favorite Julia Child quotes? Personally, I remember her sniff (perhaps apocryphal, since I can't find a specific instance anywhere at the moment) at Italian cooking as being merely "shopping." I also love her statement that "You'll never know everything about anything, especially something you love." And then there is this classic piece of hilarity:

If you're afraid of butter, use cream.
I just love Julia! What a rad chick. But I have to disagree with her on the grilled veggies. I love 'em!
i love Julia! but yeah, i disagree on hating the grilled vege...when done right, grilled veges are so delicious!
What's wrong with grilled veggies? I love JC so this just shattered my world.
Grilled veggies can be delicious, but so many people screw them up and you end up with gross, un-oiled, un-salted, dry, half raw mush. I'm a vegetarian, so I've been scarred by bad veggie-grillers at many a cookout.
I always adored Julia Child's mottos and way of thinking. That said I found it pretty hilarious when visiting my parents and we were watching something about her when my mother burst out with "I can't stand Julia Child. Watched her cook for years and you know what? That b**** can't cook!" Had me cracking up the way she said it and now it's all I can think of about JC.
About cilantro: "I would pick it out if I saw it and throw it on the floor."
I like her quote about needing "the courage of your convictions about you" when flipping an omelette. Heck, I love all her quotes. She was quite a woman.
My favorite was an offhand quote I swear I heard her say when I was young watching her show, but I've never been able to find quoted anywhere:
"Girls, if we don't eat our butter and fat, our hair will be dull and our breasts will be flat."
When asked what her favourite wine was:
"Gin."
My favorite Julia quote: "you've got to have the courage of your convictions!" She was talking about flipping something in a skillet -- a potato pancake, I think -- but it so applies to life. Of course no one -- not even Meryl--can say it like Julia did. I so remember coming home from kindergarten and watching Romper Room then the French Chef, what a combination!
