We saw this sandwich at Martha Stewart and immediately got hungry. Steak sandwich, anyone?
Or maybe you'd prefer a cheese and onion sandwich, or a smoky vegetarian BLT? How about a plain peanut butter sandwich? What about a humble turkey sandwich, or a fancy one with avocado and poached egg — or, for that matter, avocado and mozzarella?
Or maybe something else? What's your favorite sandwich?
And if the steak sandwich up there just looks irresistible, here's the recipe:

My favorite sandwich is a fried egg + monterey jack + tomato + spinach + mayo on toasted Tuscany bread. It's the Spanglish recipe from here from awhile back.
Sooo tasty. ...but not really packable.
My favorite sandwich this summer has been a combo of pesto mayo, heirloom tomato, and Tillamook cheddar cheese, melted, on cracked wheat bread. Mmmm.
For me, nothing beats a good grilled cheese. Some good extra-sharp cheddar on rye bread, maybe. Served with a little tomato soup of course!
Oh it totally depends on my mood. For comfort food nothing beats a PB, honey and banana on toasted wheat. But, I also love a good roatsed vegetable sandwich which I happen to have all the fixin's for at home right now and which I plan on bringing for tomorrow's lunch: roasted eggplant and roasted tomatoes with chickpea spread and basil.
Kaiser roll, Kosher pickle chips, White American Cheese, smoked Virginia Ham , and plain potato chips… the sandwich of my childhood and still my favorite.
Reuben with homemade sauerkraut and light rye. Yummy!
Although a good Monte Cristo is not to be sneezed at! (battered, deep-fried ham, turkey and cheese served with jam and powdered sugar)
My favorite sandwich is: hummus, feta, roasted red peppers, spinach, cucumber, and sometimes small pineapple pieces. I could live off of those sandwiches!
tomato, mozzarella, and fresh basil with a bit of salt and pepper and olive oil and balsamic on toasted ciabatta. my mouth is watering just thinking of it.
Black Forest ham, Honeycup mustard, havarti and jack cheeses, and lettuce on sourdough. I could eat that sandwich every day!
egg and tomato on a french baguette that has been grilled with garlic and butter. Simple, familiar, and amazing...
Either a rare roast beef with sharp cheddar, or egg salad topped with big ol' slices of red ripe tomatoes and muenster cheese.
A Reuben reigns supreme!
Need to be done just right. Do not over fill the thing with meat. No more than a 1/4 pound AT MOST. Even that is too high. And while butter on the bread is fine, do not over do it. I do not want butter toast. Obviously, good corned beef is a must
I love organic peanut butter and raspberry fruit spread on multigrain bread with a glass of cold skim milk. Kind of an upgrade from elementary school, but the same simple comfort.
Of course theres a post about sandwiches after I packed chinese food for lunch, lol
My two favs:
Turkey, harvati with dill on honeywheat bread with honey mustard, luttuce, tomatoes, pickles, cilantro, and avacado
&
Tomato, basil, cheddar, avacado and a only a spoonful of tuna on toasted bread with mustard
add chips or fruit and I'll be your best friend forever.
A properly made medianoche is about the best thing in the world, but the ingredients are impossible to find outside of FL.
Mmmm...reubens are my favorite. A new deli opened up in town and I think dinner may be there tonight!
Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato on toasted white bread, with mayo.
Sandiwich roll or ciabatti
drizzle of greek or italian vinaigrette on the bread
fresh spinach
tomato
purple onion slices
couple slices of Provolone
2 slices of turkey bacon
A New Orleans-style fried oyster po-boy: smallish corn-flour-fried oysters on French bread (butter toasted), thin-sliced pickle and ample sloshes of Louisiana hot sauce. Stick a fork in me, I'm done!
Milanesa sammich!!
or
Egg + Cheese + Tomato + Latin Lemonaise + Good Bread
I just found this recipe on epicurious this weekend and made it for lunch today. It's seriously one of the more complicated, but delicious sammies I've ever made -

Rueben!
For me, you can't beat the classic turkey breast on sourdough with mustard, tomato, lettuce, sprouts, and avocado.
Turkey, swiss cheese, and pesto grilled on English muffin bread. Always best with a comforting bowl of hot tomato soup.
Croque Madame!
The restaurant I used to work at made this sandwich and I ate one almost every day. Grilled chicken breast with cajun spices, blue cheese, lettuce and tomato on brioche.
I'm not usually much of a sandwich person, but there's a deli in Boston that makes a sandwich I have dreams about: It's called a Colombian Panini, and is basically a Cuban sandwich with chipotle aioli. Pulled pork. Ham. Cheese. Pickles. So delicious. Heart stoppingly bad for you. But worth it. Oh, and the deli is The Real Deal in JP.
Anything with avocado. One of my latest obsessions is avocado, tomato, basil, and black olive tapenade on fresh ciabatta or baguette. It is SO yummy!!
My favorite sandwich is actually a bastardization of a favorite salad at a local restaurant. Grilled chicken, feta, pecans, raspberry vinaigrette dressing, and granny smith apples.
pb&j! without a doubt!
Fresh mozzarella, lots and lots of fresh basil, roma tomatoes, Maldon salt and a whole lot of olive oil on a crusty baguette. :D No better midnight snack.
I'm not fancy schmancy like a lot of people that follow this site. I'm just a regular 30 year old Kiwi bloke who grew up on peanut butter and jam sandwiches.
My ideal sandwich consists of, top-down: mayo, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, pickles, egg, cheese, ketchup (or salsa) and meat (preferably smoked ham, but corned beef or chicken are just as scrumptious).
A more basic version is just ham, cheese and lettuce with a little mayo on the crown (the top layer of bread).
I used to put humus on my sandwiches but it's really hard to find in Japan (haven't ever seen it anywhere I've been).
Coronation chicken (home-made of course) with some rocket on crusty white rolls...yum!
Lox+boursin with lemon+tomato+spinach+red onion on Ezekial english muffin. Yuuuummmm
Best sandwich ever - I call it the BLAB. Variation on a BLT.
Start with quality white bread, toasted.
Add mayo, lettuce, slices of brie, bacon, and avocado. A crunchy deli pickle, a few chips on the side and a Virgil's root beer and I'm in heaven! Don't overdo it on the brie, bacon and avocado, though. More is not necessarily better.
Hummus, avocado, swiss cheese, pickles, sprouts.
on toast
This is going to sound weird. Tomatoes, Hummus and pan fried tofu on some sort of crusty bread.
Some of my favorite sandwiches are italian chicken salad, and mediterranean tuna salad! also a spicy egg salad with bacon. mmmm.

grilled cheese supreme: buttered brioche, fontina cheese, thinly sliced apple and fig jam
sliced grilled chicken with Brie, honey, and sliced almonds on ciabatta.
These are my favorite sandwiches from a couple of favorite cafes. Unfortunately I can never perfectly reproduce them at home.
My latest favorite: homemade chicken salad (rotisserie chicken, toasted pecans, dried cherries, shallot, and a spoonful of homemade mayonnaise) open-faced on a buckwheat Belgian waffle.
The waffle recipe I used can be found here: http://www.shutterbean.com/buckwheat-belgium-waffles/. It's wonderfully light and crisp, and the cooked waffles can easily be frozen and re-heated in the toaster. It's even better than bread! And it works particularly well here because the little waffle "pockets" keep the salad well-contained.
Highly recommended!
My steak and aioli sandwich is my absolute favorite!
