Q: Does anyone have a really good gluten-free chocolate chip cookie? Or gluten-free snickerdoodle? Gooey-butter cookies? Those are my three favorite cookies that I want to make for my close friend that has recently found a gluten allergy. Just because she can't have any gluten doesn't mean she can't have any cookies. Help me find a way to give her some really good cookies.

Editor: Joe, we recently posted this recipe from Flying Apron Bakery in Seattle. But we haven't actually tried it so we can't speak to how good it is.

Alton Brown's gluten free chocolate chip cookie recipe is great - http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/the-chewy-gluten-free-recipe/index.html - I make it for people who aren't gluten-free and they can never tell!
I have some on my blog and the peanut butter chocolate chip are the best I've made, esp. when you under bake them! I'm not just saying that to get hits either.
i had some AMAZING - seriously amazing ones ones from a box mix. nobody could tell they were gluten free, for real!

they were from gluten free pantry. i didn't like their pancake mix, but this was insane.
I made these from Gluten-Free Girl and they're amazing. Like, I might just use them as my go-to recipe for CC cookies, and not just gluten-free ones. http://glutenfreegirl.com/david-leites-chocolate-chip-cookies-gluten-free/
Thanks to MizK for the recommendation of the 36-hour chocolate chip cookies we adapted from David Leite's recipe. We've had many people tell us those are their favorite chocolate chip cookies ever, and they can all eat gluten.
We love these snickerdoodles, which our friend Irvin (Eatthelove.com) created.

We made cookies all December. I'm sure we have something your friend will like!
The ones above look amazing, will have to try them as well! Chocolate chip cookies are so special to me! Here's the recipe I've come up with on my blog: http://mamameglutenfree.blogspot.com/2011/01/best-ever-chocolate-chip-cookies.html
ditto to shauna's 36 hr chocolate chip cookie recipe. those are my all time favorite cookies, ever. i can't make them any more!
Thanks everyone. The suggestions are great!
Annalise Roberts's from "Gluten Free Baking Classics." I eat gluten, and they're still some of my favorite cookies ever.
Having been to Flying Apron on a number of occasions it is worth it to give their recipes a try. They have many totally awesome gluten free and vegan snacks!
I have an excellent Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe (for those of you willing to let the dough chill overnight). My mom has celiac and makes this recipe with Mr. Ritts' GF All Purpose flour -- a hit among fellow celiacs and my non-celiac, very-picky dad.
Note: if you use Bob's Red Mill GF AP flour (the one found in most supermarkets), I believe you have to add xanthan gum (about .25tsp per c of flour).
Two Words: ALMOND FLOUR
there is a book called the Alond Flour cookbook, the authors first name is Elana Amsterdam (http://www.elanaspantry.com/) - you should get this as a gift for your friend!
Here are my favorite!! http://gingerlemongirl.blogspot.com/2009/08/gluten-free-chocolate-chip-cookies.html This is my husband's absolute favorite dessert and he isn't even gf (I am!)
I really am in LOVE with Elana Amsterdam's Gluten-Free Double Almond Chocolate Chip Cookies!
I am loving my Cocoa Chocolate Chip Cookies...they are like a brownie/cookie combo! http://www.buddinglotusbody.com/nourish/2010/12/cocoa-chocolate-chip-cookies/
