Q: Now that I know how to cook bacon in an oven and I can cook in large batches, what's the best way to keep the bacon warm and crispy for a couple of hours until it's time to eat? Also, is there an easy way to transport the bacon retaining that crispiness?

Editor: Readers, what are your suggestions for Nancy? What's the best way to hold bacon and keep it warm for a little while? Does it always need to be re-crisped?

I've wondered this for a long time. I've always just cooked the bacon last so it's nice a crisp and hot when served. I'd have to try it, but maybe something similar to how I keep pancakes and waffles warm. I turn my oven on 200 for about 3 minutes to get it warm and turn it back off. Should stay warm for a while. Not sure this will keep the bacon crisp though. I'll have to try it next time.
I keep bacon warm in my stomach, and it keeps (me happy) for hours.
No idea, but your local Diner might.
I always just pop a stainless steel bowl on top of food that's waiting. I've never tried it for bacon, but it does wonders at keeping most everything else warm.
I agree with Nerves. Everyone else can cook their own meth, I mean bacon.
Ha. Such an easy answer. Cook the bacon to perfection whenever you wish. Then, when ready to serve, pop them in the microwave! Works every time.
One of the caterers at work has a neat trick. Crispy bacon is laid over baguette slices. The bread lifts the bacon out of drippings, and the sterno flame underneath toasts the bread. I take the bacon bread home to cube into croutons & toss over spinach salad or split pea soup. Yum.
isn't the beauty of bacon (other than the bacon taste) that you can eat it at ANY temperature?
carenkaro, that sounds AMAZING
I agree M0387! I always cook the bacon first and put it on papertowels to drain then cook hashbrowns or mushrooms in the bacon fat. The bacon ends up being the only room-temperature thing in my English fry up (that has American streaky bacon instead of English back bacon because I finally convinced my English fiance that back bacon/Canadian bacon wasn't really bacon... to me) and it's never bothered me before. :)
