Q: I am looking to purchase a stovetop grill and have no idea what brands or kind to get. Any tips?
Thanks so much!

Editor: Ashley, our main piece of advice on this topic is: Get a cast iron grill, and don't bother with nonstick coating — it's more of a liability than a help in this case. Also, take a look at this piece:

I use the Lodge Logic grill/griddle and love it!
Agreed, I've had my Lodge grill/griddle for years, it's fantastic
If you're getting one of the two-burner ones make sure it will actually fit your stove without wobbling!
Another vote for the Lodge griddle/grill!
We love our Lodge grill/griddle too! We seasoned all of our cast iron using the flaxseed oil method and now the pans are bomb proof.
Lodge.
I've tried both lodge and the pure stainless Chef King 7 Gauge Steel griddle. The latter comes closer to a true diner/burger joint cooktop and is a permanent fixture on my stovetop.
I have a Lodge as well and i seem to find a new use for it everyday. Not only does it live on my stovetop, I put it in the oven to cook pizza's on and to bake bread on. I love the fact that it is reversible and solid.
I have the Lodge reversible also and love it! I was debating on buying it at Sur la Table but luckily waited and found it at Target for about half the price!
Ditto on loving the Lodge.
And I'm with pearlso on doing pizzas and bread (and scones and biscuits and bacon) in the oven with the griddle.
I have settled with a Staub square grill after my Le Creuzet was too heavy to carry on planes, (don't ask, did a lot of travelling with carry on only, and TSA did ask!) The Staub's light weight is easy for small hands and the folding handle makes it potholder free, with great cooking consistency. We use it it at least once a week for anything from burgers to duck magret to vegetables. Now with a Euro Ceramic cook-top, its smooth bottom works great, no scratching.
it's very important to measure your burners.
If the grill doesn't fit perfectly over the grates, it will never be level.
I have a gas stovetop, with square grates, and I found the Emeril branded grill fit perfectly over them
