I have mad respect to those bakers who take it upon themselves to make homemade versions of their classic candy favorites. I remember spending my summer nights when I was younger sitting on the hood of my Father's truck eating Butterfinger Blizzards from the local Dairy Queen. Times have changed, but my memories can still be just as sweet with this homemade Butterfinger recipe.
This Butterfinger recipe has been taunting me all week. It's called to me from my "make me someday recipe folder." Saaaaaarraaaahhhh. Pssst! Hey! No really, it's spoken to me and for good reason. This recipe takes simple ingredients and creates that satisfying sticky crunch and a punch of melted chocolate to finish things off.
It's not as hard as you think and is sure to satisfy any peanut butter craving (because why have a sandwich when you can have candy), and when kept in the fridge or freezer even can make for a great cold sweet treat to beat the summer heat!

Oh snap! Dairy/soy free (with the right chocolate). I know how I am spending my Friday night.
This recipe calls to me too! I always look at Bruce Weinstein's “The Ultimate Candy Book” (the book this recipe comes from) whenever I see it in the store but this post and notwithoutsalt's blog post have put me over the edge. Now I'm extra seduced by the thought of homemade butterfingers!
