Ready to tackle another cooking resolution? Many of you talked about wanting to break out of cooking ruts, expand culinary repertoires, and try out some new recipes in 2009 - and we're right there with you! Here's the plan...
Tonight, let's all go home and pick out our recipe. We personally have a shelf of cookbooks staring us in the face, not to mention more recipes than we care to admit bookmarked in our internet browser! Take no more than a half an hour to look through your recipe backlog and pick the first one that strikes your fancy.
Once you have your recipe, figure out how much time it will take. Look at your weekend plans and set aside some time for your culinary adventure.
Tomorrow, make a list of what you need and then - here's the kicker - actually go to the store! Back home, set everything you need in one place (with refrigerated foods grouped together in the fridge). Knowing you have all the ingredients plus having them in open sight will help you follow through on actually making the recipe.
And finally, yes, make your recipe. Put on some good music, slip on some comfortable shoes, and go to town on that recipe. Whether you're cooking for yourself or for other people, serve it up on some nice plates and be sure to enjoy every bite.
Oh, and after you pick your recipe tonight, come back here and tell us what you're planning!

I'm trying a citrus curd recipe--looking forward to it!
I love challenges like this...Be back later with my recipe!
Inspired by a post at the blog Last Nights Dinner, I plan on making cassoulet this weekend. It's my first attempt both at making cassoulet and cooking dry beans!
Here's the link to the post that provided my inspiration:

I cooked last night. Usually I'm just the sous chef...a very appreciative one, but I do get off easy! I made three new recipes, all of which were pretty much supposed to be straightforward and "easy". One of three turned out fine. I didn't care for the taste of another (though nothing went wrong) and the third was a loaf of bread that was too doughy (though I believe I know why - because I rushed it). So....I needed to see this in order to maintain motivation to keep trying new things and not be discouraged. I'll report back Sunday! :)
Oh...it sounded like you wanted people to actually write a new recipe. You know..."make" as in "create". Not just make something they haven't made before.
