Brrr! A smoothie might be a healthy way to start the day, but on a chilly winter morning, it can also set your teeth chattering. That's when we like to warm things up with a pinch of spice.
A bit of warming spice can balance out the ice-cold smoothie and boost the immune system — plus it tastes good, too! Among other benefits, spices like cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and turmeric have high levels of antioxidants.
To start, try a dash of ground cinnamon in a berry smoothie, add fresh or ground ginger to a green smoothie, or check out these recipes for inspiration:

Elizabeth Apron fro...

I'm having a pumpkin smoothie for breakfast right now.
I made minor alterations to the recipe I first saw on Pioneer Woman's site....I use plain canned pumpkin sweetened with stevia drops instead of pumpkin pie filling, and non-fat milk and yogurt, only because that's what I usually buy. Lots of cinnamon and a few drops of vanilla and it's perfect.
You know, I'd be curious to know if one could successfully make a warm smoothie. Maybe something like a Mexican atole, but maybe less sweet and/or starchy?
Elizeh by definition a smoothie is a blended ice drink so if it is warm it obviously will no longer have bits of ice in it and therefore cease to be a smoothie.
