Name: Alexa
City: Atlanta, GA
Resolution: Volunteer with cooking classes at my local Cook's Warehouse.
Here's what Alexa says about her goal...
My resolution: I've recently moved to a new city and want to find like-minded food enthusiasts like myself. I already signed up to take the prerequisite "knife skills" class and then all I have to do is take the training session. When I can get a hand on a knife better, my cooking will be faster and more efficient! Volunteering will be a great way to enhance my cooking skills and I want to remind myself to make time each month to plan around my busy schedule to help out at this class.
Thanks, Alexa! That's such a great idea. Readers, have you ever volunteered your cooking time at a place like this?

Bacsac Bacsquare 04...

Can we get an explanation as to what one does when volunteering at a cooking class? Are you an assistant to the teacher? I've never heard of doing that, though it makes sense that larger classes might need an assistant.
Echoing what Pi said and I'd like to know too how to volunteer....and does that mean that whatever fees are associated with registration are waived? (one of my resolutions is to get out of debt).
I'm also in Atlanta and never heard of this.
I'm in Atlanta also - found this under the course descriptions. Hope this helps!
Cooking School Assistant Orientation

The Cook's Warehouse cooking school would not be where it is today without our assistants who work so hard to make things run smoothly! If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up for this free class. The orientation will provide you with all the info necessary to help with classes. Successful completion of our Knife Skills 101 is a requirement for becoming an assistant. Go ahead and sign up for both to get started right away! Being an assistant requires hard work and time but it’s an opportunity to interact with the Chefs, receive recipes, taste samples, learn lots, and have lots of fun! Must be 18 years of age or older to become an assistant.

One great way to volunteer to teach cooking and/or nutrition is through the Cooking Matters program, which teaches cooking-based nutrition classes to low-income communities around the country. Cooking Matters is a program of Share Our Strength, which aims to end childhood hunger in America. I volunteered for three years with Cooking Matters before I moved to a new city, and the experience was always rewarding and fulfilling!
