Grinding a teaspoon or two of pepper is easy, but what if you need a large amount of freshly-ground pepper?
America's Test Kitchen has an inventive solution, using a tool we don't usually bring into the kitchen: a power drill!
Unscrewing the top of a pepper mill and attaching the metal rod that drives the grinding mechanism to the drill creates a super-charged pepper mill that grinds quickly at the push of the button. We are so intrigued by this idea! But if you are leery of attaching your favorite pepper mill to a power tool — and really, we can't blame you — a coffee grinder also works well for grinding large amounts of pepper at once.
What do you do when you need a large amount of pepper for a recipe?

yeah, .. I'd rather use a spice grinder instead.
Wow. Did "America's Test Kitchen" go back in time 10 years and watch "Good Eats"?
Yes. Because I always keep a cordless drill handy in the kitchen! (Seriously? Who would do this?)
Strange.Bird - I would do this.
@Strange.Bird, my dad keeps a drill just for the kitchen! Not for pepper, though. He has a special attachment he made for it to stir up his all-natural peanut butter.
@baconitup I thought the exact same thing!!!!!
I use the PepperMate mill whenever I need a teaspoon or more. It works really well. I first saw it used by Ina Garten on The Barefoot Contessa.
