Made by the husband and wife team Tiger in a Jar, this surreal and lovely video recipe for beet cake is like nothing we've ever seen before. Watch it after the jump and see if you agree.
We love the dreaminess of this video — the music, the colors, the soft focus, the weirdly beautiful details like the card catalog full of flour — and kind of want to live inside the world of this little film, baking and eating beet cake all day. Total video food porn!
If you need a little more instruction on baking a beet cake, the couple posted the recipe on their blog, along with these inspiring thoughts on the art of baking:
There is something beautiful about the baking process. The way flour feels in your hands or the sound of eggs cracking on the edge of a bowl. Baking is a gathering of interesting materials, a mixed medium art piece of sorts, that ends in a cake instead of a canvas.

...lovely...
lovely, indeed. well done.
I love it! That is the definition of sensual, which is exactly what food should be.
This is the most delicious video I've ever seen. More please.
but is beet cake good? after a beet pancake morning fail many years ago, i am charmed but cynical.
This is so beautiful! The only thing that drives me crazy about this is that the oven was clearly not preheated as otherwise there is no way she could have pushed the rack in with her bare hands. And you can't bake a cake in an oven that hasn't been preheated.
Granted, I realized you also wouldn't store your flour in a card catalog, but still...
@alejandraramos, I thought the same thing about the oven! Beautiful video, though. Dreamy indeed.
