Vanilla, pear, and sage? Sounds like the makings of a great dessert. How about a cocktail? Well, sure. We received this cocktail recipe from the makers of Navan, a vanilla cognac from France and were instantly intrigued.
This cocktail was created by mixologist Alex Michael Ott, and we are now hunting for a bottle of Navan because we are dying to try the sage and pear combination.
NAVAN Pear-Sage Refresher
1 1/2 oz. NAVAN Natural Vanilla Liqueur
1 1/2 oz. Chopin Vodka
2 oz. fresh pear juice
1/2 oz. fresh squeezed lemon juice
3 fresh sage leaves
Combine all ingredients including the sage (no muddling necessary) in a shaker and shake vigorously with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and garnish with a pear slice or a fresh sage leaf.

Navan is delicious. We had some at a restaurant in Chicago a few years ago and were hooked. We're light drinkers, though, so it took us about a year to finish the bottle. I think we found it at Sam's Wine and Spirits in Chicago.
