Why "New Amsterdam Market"? Before there was "New York" there was "New Amsterdam" which included what became New York State, New Jersey, Vermont, and western Massachusetts and Connecticut. The market honors food producers who come from the far corners of New Amsterdam's former hinterlands. Artisanal cheeses, wines, pickles and preserves, heirloom apples and hand crafted ciders, grass-fed meats, pastured poultry - what better way to spend your Sunday?
