Kitchen tools are a dime a dozen these days and there really is a tool for every kitchen task. Most of us don't have any need for those tools when there's a fork or spoon handy. So, are these tools unusually helpful or just unusual?
If you're bored of buying tofu in the store you can easily make it at home (cheese too!) with the TofuXpress. Or maybe you're looking to get rid of the excess utensils that are piling up so you're replacing them all with the All In One Kitchen Tool. Just starting out in your new place or looking for the next new thing? The Mix n' Chop is certainly a new kid on the block!

My mom received one of those Mix n' Chop tools as a gift. The giver said it was awesome for browning ground meat and things like that, but I found it awkward and not as useful as a good spoon. It's also awkward in the drawer. Homemade tofu is intriguing though.
It's worth noting that the TofuXpress is not intended for making tofu but for draining tofu. From the "about" page: "It presses water effectively from a standard size brick of commercially made tofu so you can change its texture and add flavoring."
I think the mix n chop has been around for a while. I got one at a friends party and love it. It works kind of like a potato masher and makes perfect uniform ground meat when browning. I love it even though it's not a multiuse device. It is bulky though. Highly recommend.
Actually, you CAN use the tofu-x-press for making tofu or cheese. They sell an alternate "light" spring that applies less pressure for precisely this purpose. And even if you only use it for draining tofu, it is worth not having to dirty towels, plates and cookie sheets and worrying about a cat knocking over the weight.
ooo, the tofu press looks awesome. I usually press mine with paper towels and a plate with cans on top. This would be super handy!
I love my MixnChop and give them as gifts all the time. It is awesome for mashed potatoes and browning meat. Sometimes, the meat gets stuck in the curves which sucks. But I'm still a big fan.
I've had the MixnChop for several years and it's indispensable in making Guacamole. I can't make decent guac without it. It's also as mentioned great with mashing potatoes and ground meats.
I love my mix n chop. I use it exclusively to break up ground turkey while I'm browning it. It's the only think I've found that will create the right consistency with the meat.
