The power supply uses 60% less power than traditional Siemens handsets and an included ECO mode reduces power transmission to the handset by 80%. Also, when the handset is docked, transmission power is literally cut down to zero for less wasted energy. Read more about Siemens Eco products here.

Well, this is just plain exciting for me! Not necessarily because of the eco-superness (that's just an excellent bonus). But I was told that Siemens had stopped making phones and was concentrating on other electronics instead. We tried to find one when we got our wireless router (which didn't like the phone very much) and had zero luck finding an updated one. We've had our Siemens phone for nearly 10 years now, I think. It's survived 2 kids, a fall down a flight of concrete stairs, 5 moves, several tumbles from on top of the entertainment unit, etc etc etc. The reception on it is so fantastic that we've never once experienced static. We've walked to the store while talking on the phone (the store is like 2 minutes away) and didn't have it disconnect.
It's probably the sturdiest phone I've had. So YAY to this news that the phones can actually be purchased....somewhere... I'll have to try looking for them again. :)
