Do you have an ice dispenser in your refrigerator? If so, here's a rather magical little Valentine's trick: Turn that dispenser into a surprise candy machine, as demonstrated by the blogger at Foodinese. Want a see a video of this in action? Read on!
The blogger at Foodinese says that his girlfriend really likes candy from the freezer — so he decided to "make her something fun" for Valentine's Day.
A few small hacks later, her ice dispenser was a candy machine! It seems like a relatively simple process, and so fun. This could be adapted for other things, too — we're thinking frozen peas for April Fool's Day!

Sadly our fridge does not have an ice dispenser like that. Awesome idea though.
This is awesome.
this is totally awesome
awww that's so cool. what a creative BF!
We don't have an ice dispenser either but if you replace the candy with something else, this could be a really fun idea for April Fool's Day.
Super fun!
I don't have an ice dispenser, I'm curious- if you set it to crushed ice, would it crush up the candy?
Jatoha, the larger candies do get crushed and a few of the smaller ones. When I first installed it, I didn't realize my ice maker was on crush and had a few minutes of sheer confusion before I finally realized the oversight.
this is amazing! you're awesome, and that was so sweet. mine doesn't dispense ice and is in need of a part, so i'm wondering if i could just do this permanently instead...
Rayray: for sure! My freezer's ice maker is broken too, but the dispenser still worked. I'm thinking of a more permanent revision with plexi and caulk. If you decide to do it, let me know, I would love to see other people's interpretations.
I once rented an apartment with a fridge that had an ice dispenser, but was not hooked up to water. I filled the compartment with frozen blueberries, and made a little "blueberries" tag to cover up the ice button. It was such a great way to start the day, using that to coat my cereal bowl with frozen fruit.
Please, please do not tell us we can also make cotton candy in the clothes dryer.
lol, this is great.... but not in the house!
that's super!! ha ha - I'd gain a hundred pounds.
Love it! What a good boyfriend.
This is AMAZING. I don't have an ice maker but I'm filing this away for future reference. I might do the blueberries trick mentioned above though....I don't exactly need a reason to eat more candy. But seriously, so cool!!
@ Honest Day: Hahahahahaha!!!!!! That would be brilliant
As an unashamed candyholic I would do this all year round if I had an ice dispenser. I love my ice, but I could bag it opt for skittles filling my glass.
@ MRSBERG: If your refrigerator dispensed Skittles, then you could add them to beer and make Skittlebrew!
Ours is disconnected from a water source, so half the freezer is basically useless. Using the ice dispenser for frozen peas would actually be pretty handy at my house!
