It's a pet peeve of mine that results in me ordering salad dressing on the side at many restaurants (complete with the eye rolls of my fellow diners who assume I'm on a strict diet): over-dressed salads. Avoid turning your lovely crisp summer greens into a soggy mess with this smart tip.
We've suggested rubbing the salad bowl with garlic, and this idea takes it to the next level! Next time you're adding dressing to a bowl of salad, lightly pour dressing around the side of the bowl rather than directly on the greens. As you toss the salad together, the dressing will lightly coat each piece of lettuce, rather than glopping on to some while leaving others naked. This technique works especially well on textured greens like curly kale and frisee that seem to resist even coating.
Have any other tips for avoiding over-dressed salads?
