During a recent stay at the new Saguaro Palm Springs, we encountered an unusual ice water add-in: fiery jalapeño peppers!
Water infused with chile peppers might seem odd, or dangerously overpowering, but we found it pleasantly subtle and refreshing. In addition to adding festive color, the jalapeños imparted a hint of spice that was welcome on a sunny day (see the spicy food in hot weather principle). Granted, Palm Springs is warmer than most parts of the country this time of year, but you don't have to wait until summer to try this out. Jalapeños are also known to relieve headaches and congestion from allergies and colds. Or you could serve this during a Mexican-inspired meal.
We recommend making jalapeño water with whole chiles; at the Saguaro, they used about 3 red and green peppers to a gallon. If you're a true spice fiend (or especially congested), you could try sliced and seeded peppers. Cucumber and/or lime would be nice additions, too. Refrigerate and allow the water to infuse for at least an hour before serving.

I once accidentally used Jalopeno infused honey making a batch of lemonade. Surprisingly delicious!!
@AmberElizabeth I was totally intrigued by the jalapeno water until I saw your comment and now I'm extremely curious about this jalapeno honey and lemonade concoction. I don't suppose you have a recipe?
yummm i have some jalapeno cream honey that is sooooooooooooooooooooooo good. it's from a local bee keeper here in MS. he has other flavors as well. the creamed honey is thick and i just eat it with wheat thins.... but i know it's used at some fancy food places here with cheese. you can order it online. their website is http://mississippibees.com/
What jalapeno honey? I agree, now I'm distracted by the jalapeno honey. Never heard of it. Must try.
My favorite food truck makes watermelon-jalapeno lemonade. It's pretty good, but a shock to the palette if you were expecting regular lemonade ;)
In Santa Monica there's a bar called The Basement that has a jalepeno mojito. It was skeptical at first, but it actually was very good. The jalapeno added a nice bite to the concoction and it wasn't too spicy, so this water infusion and then the lemonade sounds like something I have to try
