Halloween is this Saturday! Have you been surrounding yourself with candy corn and other trick or treat candy? Do you have a favorite Halloween candy, and do you incorporate it into your snacking (and cooking!) this time of year?
I confess I do love the honeyed taste of those classic candy corns, even though I can only eat a few at time. It's fun to nibble them down layer by layer. This year my sister also brought over some pumpkin fudge, which was even more seasonally appropriate, and delicious as well as inspiring.

eew, candy corn!
Reese's Pieces, FTW!
i love candy corn for about a week, then i can't look at it again until next halloween lol. i do love those round chocolates with cararmel in the middle made to look like eyeballs. i know i can buy some variation of those year round, but they just taste better as eyeballs :)
I like caramel apples and most kinds of chocolate. But honestly, I have less of a sweet tooth these days. If I indulge in sweets, it's usually good-quality dark chocolate.
I hate candy corn, Butterfingers, and any sort of licorice candy.
My favorite candy is the Brach’s Assorted Halloween Mellowcremes, not the tasteless Harvest Mix. This is the one that had bats, witches, corn stalks pumpkin and a moon and the are all differant flavors. I can't find them anywhere. I have been on a hunt all Halloween season.
I hate candy corn - always have and always will! I love chocolate candy, and my fave fall/ halloween items are the russell stover chocolate orange marshmallow pumpkins and caramel/ candy apples. for halloween candy i prefer twix or milky ways.
more xmas candy than halloween, but I am really craving a chocolate orange. They were all the rage when I was like 12 - about 14 years ago. I want to smash open a chocolate orange!
Hubby indulges in candy corn, and about two weeks later, I toss what's left out.
candy corn mixed with dry roasted peanuts is my favorite. way too addicting.
Indian corn! Aka the chocolate ended variety of candy corn...or the chocolate/caramel candy corn, because that stuff is really good. I also like the chewy mixes, with Mary Janes and caramels and that kind of stuff. And you've gotta love Reese's this time of year, if only for the commercials. :)
I like most candy. I do really, really hate Dots, though.
That rolled up "bullseye" like caramel candy. With the creamy center. Yum. I don't even like sweets but love those. Just knowing that there are some of them in the bags I bought to distribute to the children is too much. I may have to rip into them. Doesn't make me a bad person.
suez-i love those also they're so addicting!
i love take 5 it's the perfect combination of salty, crunchy and sweet and i don't even like chocolate! i also love sour patch kids or anything gummy. my mouth waters just thinking about that stuff!
Reeses Pumpkins. More peanut-butter-y than the cups, and so good.
The little Heath bars. I can have one and not feel quite as guilty as if I'd gotten a regular sized one. :)
And anything Reese's. Somehow those never seem to make it into the candy bowl for the kids.
Vegan chocolate!
Almond Joy! I will step over my child to get to those.
My favorite, Take 5! Pretzel, caramel, peanuts, peanut butter and chocolate.
Candy corn can be different depending on who manufactures it and how fresh it is. The best candy corn is flavored with honey and has a soft chew.
It's not precisely candy, but my favorite Hallowe'en snack is a mixture of candy corn, little pretzels, m&m's, raisons, and salted/roasted peanuts. The salty with the sweet, yum! Oh! I want some right now!
bull's eye caramel cremes, oh henry, and 100 grands! yummy.
love candy corn..i could eat it all year!
the coolest Halloween handout is wax lips
I like those candies that come in black or orange wrappers, chewy peanut butter with a crunchy peanut butter center. Not sure what they're called.
I love candy corn. Period. :)
POPCORN BALLS!
Oh, I miss popcorn balls. We used to have a neighbor who gave them out, but you can't give out homemade treats anymore. My favorite candy, for Halloween or otherwise, is Snickers. On Halloween, I always liked getting the flavored mini Tootsie Rolls.
I must eat 10 pieces of candy corn and then I want to gag.
I like mini-Mounds!!!!!!! In fact I have to buy something different to give out so that I don't eat them all.
@neilbilodeau
they have those mellowcremes at the walgreens in echo park. not sure where you live but if there is a walgreens nearby check it out.
I'm a big fan of Tootsie Rolls. Imagine my delight when I found out that Rose Levy Beranbaum's chocolate fondant recipe will produce the best Tootsie Rolls ever. I also enjoy taffies and Dots. I've never been able to get into the chocolate and peanut butter combination, though. I know. It's un-American. ;)
Krackel ftw!

Ok, first of all, candy corn... I'm laughing so hard to myself. I thought I was the only crazy one when it came to this! I wholeheartedly agree with several of the commenters - ONLY Brach's candy corn. Anything else is not acceptable. And for me, it's only the normal candy corn and pumpkins (mixed). No indian corn and definitely no mix with the bats and corn stalks and weird light brown things... That said, my love for candy corn lasts all of about 1 week, then I'm over it.
As far as trick-or-treatin' candy, my favs growing up were always reese's peanut butter cups (the half version... full size cup, only one though). We "rated" our candy into levels, and were big on the trading out the lower level candy for the sought after top level candies...
The worst candy? Mary janes and those horrible taffy like things wrapped in the solid black and orange wrappers... Bleck.
The little orange pumpkins.
My birthday is very close to Halloween, so they were frequently cake decoration. I have a memory of my 9th birthday with a big plastic ghost on the cake, the orange candy pumpkins, and stylized plastic bats. They're a sentimental thing.
Does anyone know if they make the inside out Kit Kats every year or was it a one time thing a few years ago? I really liked them (chocolate cookies with orange colored white chocolate coating) but I can never find them!
