No matter where I travel, there's one small kitchen gadget I've now learned to always bring with me: the humble waiter's key corkscrew.
If you were to look in my kitchen drawer, you'd find a handful of cheap waiter's key corkscrews purchased over the years from 24-hour drugstores and gas stations. I can't count the number of times I've been somewhere with a newly purchased or gifted bottle of wine from the region I'm visiting, all ready to enjoy a glass out on the secluded vacation cabin patio, or by the side of the road after deciding to pull over for an impromptu road trip picnic, and ... no corkscrew.
Alas! And to think all could have been avoided had I just remembered to throw one into my suitcase. Word to the wise, my friends.
