Casserole pans are necessary elements of every cook's arsenal. I am in the habit of only using cast iron pans when baking casseroles, but stainless steel has a lot to offer too. I just spotted this All-Clad Shallow Casserole Pan and knew it was a winner right away.
This All-Clad 2 1/4 quart casserole pan is made from 18/10 stainless-steel, and it has an aluminum core for quick and even heat distribution. Move from the stovetop to the oven or table using the sturdy riveted handles. If you are popping it in the oven, it's safe for temperatures up to 550 degrees.
Stove-to-oven-to-table-to-fridge (and back to oven and table) dishes like this are pretty awesome. You can sauté vegetables or bake your favorite casserole in this stainless steel pan. We love that it's made from aluminum and stainless steel for better heat distribution when baking; that way our casseroles come out perfectly. The casserole pan comes with a lifetime warranty and is dishwasher safe.

I got this one on an Amazon sale several years ago: http://www.amazon.com/Calphalon-D1382PB-Commercial-Hard-Anodized-Everyday/dp/B00006FX83/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1296077755&sr=8-3
Its a little cheaper. I made almost everything in it - paella, tortilla espanola, stir fry - its great!
So cute! It's a little baby paella pan.
I got an All-Clad 4-qt paella pan as a gift many years ago. I rarely use it but it's the almost the exact same shape and comes with a lid. Boy, I'm gonna go get that pan off the high shelf and throw a casserole in there pronto (or a hotdish as the natives like to call it in my area).
I have the Calphalon Tri-Ply Copper 12" Everyday Pan with stainless steel lid (it was a wedding gift). I love it! It is the best pan ever. I use it for braising, quick cooking sauces, poaching, making the *perfect* grilled cheese sandwiches and even casseroles. I love the stovetop to oven to table functionality and I love that it has a lid. Even, Nigella recommends the Everyday Pan in "How to be a Domestic Goddess", p 140.
I bought this pan new on eBay for $67 - which was great - but the first time I put it on the table to feed friends I realized I was in for a lifetime of happy. I made a chicken, olive, lemon, tomato and garlic dish - tossing it all into the open pan and pulling it out crispy, golden and toasted and THEN plunking it on the table without needing to transfer it to an "attractive" serving dish made it a winner. It didn't come with a lid, but I had a Calphalon lid that fit perfectly - YES!
A little bigger than my All-Clad 3QT sauteuse, but similar shape. I never thought of making casserole in it!
Sorry, I meant a little smaller than my 3QT sauteuse. :)
I love this pan! I need it!
Now if only we could find out the recipe for that amazing looking berry/oatmeal (granola?) concoction in the top image!
