Last Friday Trader Joe's announced it was recalling its Salted Valencia Peanut Butter because of reports it was contaminated with a rare strain of salmonella. Now Sunland, Inc, the company that makes Trader Joe's peanut butter, says it is recalling all the nut butters in its product line, including those made for Target's Archer Farms and Earth Balance.
The Trader Joe's products affected by the recall include:
• Trader Joe's Valencia Peanut Butter with Roasted Flaxseeds, Crunchy and Salted, 16 oz
• Trader Joe's Valencia Creamy Salted Peanut Butter with Sea Salt, 16 oz
• Trader Joe's Almond Butter with Roasted Flaxseeds, Crunchy & Salted, 16 oz.
See the full list of products affected in Sunland's official press release. If you have one of these butters in your pantry, you should a) obviously NOT eat it, and b) take it back to the store immediately for a refund.

So... what if mine is already open & I've eaten half of it? I bought my valencia peanut butter there in July, so I'm pretty sure it falls under the affected time frame. I haven't been sick at all, though...
Same question @the10thjenerator! :) I have the almond butter with roasted flaxseeds that I bought several weeks ago. I'm about halfway through it and not dead yet. I'm okay to keep on eatin', right?
It's your lives on the line guys, not ours...
If you guys want to keep eating yours, go for it, but don't let kids or anyone else with a possibly compromised immune system have any. Just because you didn't get sick doesn't mean others won't.
I haven't eaten peanut butter in YEARS, but picked up some of this stuff about a month or two ago to make the banana "ice cream" recipe. I've eaten it 3 or 4 times... and have felt fine. But, I am on immune supressing drugs, so this will be goin in the trash TODAY!
We had both the creamy salted Valencia (this one was opened and eaten as recently as last Friday - no ill effects) and the PB w/ flaxseeds in the cupboard. Returned both today for a full refund.
The press release states "This recall applies to the above products with Best-If-Used-By Dates between May 1, 2013 and September 24, 2013. (Stamped on the side of the jar's label below the lid of the jar.)"
Since peanut butter keeps for so long some may have jars that were produced before the contamination and therefor fine. But still, if you're uncomfortable eating the product, return it. Supermarkets are more than accommodating in the case of recalls.
I had to throw away a couple of jars, but my kids have been eating this particular brand of Trader Joe's peanut butter for years! I thought it was one of the best! www.clubtraderjoes.com
