According to a post we just read on New York Magazine's website, Trader Joe's is planning to open a store on 72nd Street and Broadway next year. Could it alleviate some of the unbearable crowding at Fairway?
Oh, how we hope so.
That neighborhood also has Zabar's and Citarella, but the price points of Trader Joe's predict the most competition for Fairway on 74th Street. Of course, TJ's stands alone in its quirky in-house offerings like Anelletti Pasta, Harvest Grains Blend, frozen chocolate croissants, Orange Muscat Champagne Vinegar, and Goat Milk Brie—just a few we've highlighted this year.
We're thrilled to have a Manhattan location closer, to some of us at least, than the Union Square store (which is always picked over when we visit).

Yay?
Put one in Flushing with a wine shop and I'll cheer.
I have a potentially stupid question - how'd they do that to that there pumpkin?
Seriously, it looks as though it was "carved" and not just some application. But, it looks like it was carved when still growing/alive to scar the pumpkin.
Yay! I hope they have a wine shop, too. Schlepping down to Union Square is too much effort for me most of the time.
I'm with amt230! They had one at our farmer's market on saturday, and I'm unreasonably curious.
