We spotted this garlic truck in our neighborhood a few nights ago and had to stop to chat with its occupants.
Turns out it belongs to Tovey Organic Garlic Farm upstate. Tovey Halleck, the farmer, used to have a produce stand and storefront in the East Village called Buyer's Club, but now only sell to markets and restaurants directly.
They are hipster cool organic folks with some kind of tie to an art scene as well. If you Google them, strange things happen. Here's a link to a piece involving the truck at Creativetime.org.

Um...wow. For all those times I brashly stated that garlic and S&M could never share the same website, I stand corrected. (or did I get routed to the wrong organic garlic farm?!) P.S. Where can I get some of that [garlic] action?
this truck was part of a Public art project in 2002.
Garlic=RichAir was a art piece, dreamed up by Shulea Cheang to discuss alternate economies. half of the project was contucted online:

Also it went to the 2003 Venice Bienale, That was fun too.
I was the production Coordinator for both projects.
