We mentioned Winter Sun Farms after meeting them at the Let Us Eat Local event a couple of weeks ago. At the time, we thought they only delivered in New Paltz and Poughkeepsie, but we were wrong! They do have pick-up locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn, and they're looking for more. Here's a chance for New Yorkers to get fresh, frozen summer produce in the dead of winter...
We talk a lot about canning and freezing your summer vegetables, but we know that's not everyone's cup of tea. And yet, you still want to eat produce in winter that hasn't had to fly across the world to reach you.
Well, Jim Hyland at Winter Sun Farms wants to hear from you. He's busy right now freezing corn kernels, tri-color peppers, wild strawberries, and stewed tomatoes so that he can deliver them in February when all that's hanging out at the farmer's markets are potatoes.
Jim's considering two new NYC locations. He just needs 25 interested people and a location. Check out the website to learn how it works and send him an email.
