Take a look at this new cakelet pan from Nordicware and Williams-Sonoma — how cute would these little cakes be at a birthday party or a spring wedding? The pan does all the work for you, too — all the cuteness of multiple layers, and none of the work.
These little pans even bake small indentations where the decorations should go, so it's easy to follow along with a piping bag or sprinkles and finish the look.
We've used other shaped pans like this one, and we love the NordicWare construction. We've never had any problems getting even elaborately-detailed cakes out of the pans intact.
This is a very tempting pan for us; the idea of mini-tiered cakelets is utterly seductive!

That's just precious!!!!!
I am seeing these filled with jam or pudding, glazed/sprinkled, in mini take out boxes for a wedding favor take-away. Tres cute.
Cute, but how often would you use it?
@heartmignardise
I've got a 5yo little princess, and I'm telling you we would use it ALL THE TIME. For birthdays, for tea parties, or for special-occasion dinners... I'm actually considering buying one to use for her next birthday party. They are just so cute.
I get the feeling they would be hard to frost, and that the cake would tend to stick. Cute, but probably one of those things I would leave laying around in a drawer unused.
Kakugori--If you use those non-stick sprays with flour, they should come out just fine!
I bought this cake pan the day it came out and I've used it over and over again. I didn't use bakelene or bakers joy for the pan and the little cakelets popped out and retained all of their details. Icing the cakes is easy but it really helps to have a pastry brush.
