One year my grandmother was sorting through a bunch of family papers and found a handwritten recipe for chocolate cake, so she baked it without telling my grandfather where it came from. His took one bite and exclaimed with wide eyes, "This is it!"
It became the standard cake for birthdays when I was a kid, and this year my mom baked the cake and FedExed it across the country for my birthday. It was like my happy childhood had been delivered to my doorstep.

First and foremost would be my mother's recipe for seafood casserole, which is the main dish at Christmas, and includes shrimp, artichoke hearts, and crabmeat. She developed it herself and, I'm sure, love to see it in print...

Something my grandmother called a fruit cake. It was layers of tea cake with homemade applesauce between the layers. Much better than any regular fruit cake I have ever laid eyes on.
I have been putting together a family cookbook as a gift to my whole family so this contest couldn't come at a better time! A family recipe I couldn't leave out is the lefse recipe she brought over from Norway. It was a staple in my family growing up. I would include my great-grandma's famous chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. YUMMY!
That's easy. It would definitely be my grandmother's recipe for cinnamon rolls. They were gooey and sticky and wonderful. They didn't even need icing. She would keep them in a big plastic baggie, and we'd always take out a couple each morning and stick them in the microwave.
