I like to do my apple bbq pulled pork. Place the pork roast in the crock pot, cut up apples, cut up an onion or two, fill up the crock pot with apple juice, add a 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Turn on. Leave for 8 hours. Come back, drain the juice, pull apart the pork with forks, add bbq sauce and enjoy. Yum. Now my mouth is watering.

vegetable chili or curry!
Black beans....mmmm delicious
sauerbraten
organic chicken curry!
My husband and I do a lot of slow cooker meals. Our favorite thing is to clean out the refrigerator and freezer and make a stew. Just about any vegetable can go in the pot - cut them all up to cook evenly.
My rule of thumb is to make a single layer of each ingredient. Things like potatoes and carrots go on the bottom, softer vegetables above that, then the meat on top. Add some broth or stock of some sort, but not too much - more liquid will be created as it cooks, and you can always add even more later if you need to.
Season when you estimate that you've got about an hour of cooking to go. There you are - a tasty meal that uses up odds and ends from the fridge.
beans
100% I would make some Crock Pot Cider! I just moved to Chicago from DC and this will be my first autumn away from my family, and getting a little "crocked" off crock pot cider is a great way to introduce this tradition from back home to my new friends.
I'm determined to find a way to replicate Hell's Kitchen's (in Minneapolis) Mahnomin Porridge and I'm pretty sure a slow cooker will help. I've never owned a slow cooker, but I have wanted one for years.
mmm yumy fall dinners!
My favorite crock pot meal is to take cut potatoes, carrot, onion and place them in the bottom, then put a whole chicken on top. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. It's better than any rotisserie and so juicy and tender. The bones practically fall out of the chicken.
After dinner, I put all the bones back in the crock pot with water, spices, and anything else I want in my stock. Cook on low overnight and in the morning, I have chicken stock. Too easy.
Unfortunately, my crock pot suffered an unfortunate encounter with the kitchen floor recently so I really hope I win this one.
Vegetarian chili. It's almost chili season, y'all. Hook a sista up.
My absolute favorite slow cooker meal is chicken and dumplings. I don't mind all the time it takes to properly prepare the ingredients since I can just plop them in a slow cooker and ignore it all until it's time to toss in the dumpling dough many hours later. And the best part is that there's always leftovers, and they taste even better after the flavors have a chance to "get married" (as my great-grandmother always said) in the refrigerator.
Alas, my slow cooker was left behind at my father-in-law's apartment last Christmas... 3000 miles from home. I don't think I'll be getting it back.

I love making (and eating) Beef & Guinness stew! The Guinness makes for a thick, rich gravy, but when you bite into the beef chunks, you get that great stout flavor.
Chicken Cacciatore....so flavorful, and you can pack it with veggies too so it's super nutritious! (Then, of course, I send most of it, minus the meat, through a food mill so I don't have to SEE how many vegetables I'm eating... guess I'll use it on the kids when I find out they're picky like me!)

Sadly, I don't have a favorite slow-cooker meal, as I've never owned one.
But my mom has a turkey and white bean chili recipe she makes every year with Thanksgiving leftovers - I think that would translate perfectly in a slow cooker.
What a great thing to have for my apartment! I would be able to cook for my housemates even in college!
Slow-cooker chipotle pumpkin chili, with or without meat. As a Texan, I shouldn't call it chili as the beans are cooked directly in it, but it's so good! (Beans should be cooked separately, and mixed with the chili to mitigate the heat.)
Chili with (fake) steak strips. If you're not vegetarian try it with real steak, it's delicious.
Caramelized onions.
Green Beans!

Mmmmm...so many great ideas for this winter. Other than beef stew, pot roast and braised whole chickens, my favorite has to be white bean and chicken chili with chopped roasted Hatch green chilis. Sadly, I can only make it when I have something else for my husband to eat, because he won't eat beans.
Wow, that's gorgeous!
i'd make everything in it!
My favorite slow cooker recipe is Kahlua Pork. It makes the house smell so good when it's cooking!
I teach modernist literature at a liberal arts college in the midwest. Every Spring I host a "James Joyce Potluck." Students are required to bring something mention in Joyce's _Ulysses_. I make the lamb stew in my ancient crock pot. It cooks ALL day and the students love it. I suspect it's because they've had nothing but dorm food prior.
I've been itching to make a curried squash soup, but haven't had a slow cooker to make it in.

I use my crockpot all the time. Or I used to anyway. My old one broke and my new one has a bad seal on it which defeats the purpose of crockpot cooking so I totally need this one! I have tons of recipes for my crockpot, I've even cooked lasagne in one! My best is probably a cream of potato soup with cheese and bacon. Ultimate comfort food!
I love my dad's St. Louis-style Chili with lots of cinnamon. Great for cold, rainy weather like today's. A slow cooker would be great for my apt as it's so small, the whole place heats way up whenever I cook.
beef stew all the way!
Italian beef and peppers. Great for tailgating, entertaining.
Mmmm, pot roast or gumbo.
beef stew!
I love making turkey barley stew in the crockpot...I don't any more, because I'm living with someone who hates cooked barley, but I have very fond memories of it.
Chili!
Chili...all the way.
gumbo!
My favorite is beef stew - but I change it up a bit by adding in some tomato paste, garlic, and red wine to the beef stock base - plus kitchen bouquet and worcestershire to make it very thick and brown, like gravy. Then I throw in red & green peppers, onions, potatoes and the beef (of course!) and let it all cook for about 6 hours. IF there's leftovers, I add rice to those to add even more thickness.
Pot roast.

my slow cooker is small like my apartment. . .good in theory, bad in cooking roasts. . .and I live in minnesota! I need the warmth!!!

A slow cooker is best for the simplest comfort foods. The possibilities are endless. Broccoli soup with olive oil, chicken stock, thyme, white wine, garlic, salt, and, of course, chopped broccoli is worth the wait at the end of a long day.
Little prep time, little cost, and very rewarding!
Beef stew is one of my all time favorite slow cook dishes. I can't wait for it to get cool enough to make some. Mmm.

I am a newlywed who goes to school 9-5 every day with a husband who works 7am-7pm shifts in the emergency room. He can't quite help out with dinner on the weekdays and this would be PERFECT
I've always wanted one of these. I'm dreaming of all the meals I can make for my family and friends. Please pick me.
My favorite slow cooker meal is my mother's Five Spice Chinese Braised Pork. I use her homemade 5 spice powder mix (store bought ones usually have too much cinnamon for my taste), dark soy sauce, white pepper, and a dash of sesame oil to marinade the pork (usually a boneless pork shoulder or a few hunks of pork knuckles). Then add in a cup of dashi stock and let it cook away for the day. To further stretch the meal I also add in about 8 hard boiled eggs the next day to make braised eggs. They absorb all the flavor from the fat and marinade sauce that cooked the meat. I know it's a lot of work but a pot like this would last me a whole week.
Man I am so hungry now!
I've been loving this recipe from Real Simple for Tuscan Pot Roast:

That's a hard one, but we've got a great black bean soup recipe that a friend gave us. In addition to a bit of maple syrup or red wine (which is even better when replaced by lime juice in the recipe), there's bacon, sausage, a bit of salsa. Compared to all the black bean soups I've had this one takes the cake.

I turn it on and let it cook all day. When we come in from after school the house smells wonderful. I just add some steamed rice and a veggie and supper is done! I'm too impatient for recipes, but I try to use a nice mix of little chick peas and Great Northern beans, and I include spinach and artichokes for fun. I leave the sauce white, but I do add grape tomatoes in the last half hour of cooking. I think it's best served over wild rice. Oh, and the more jack cheese the better!
ROAST BEEF WITH ALL THE FIXINGS.
My slow cooker is my friend. With 7 kids, my husband, a full time job, a part time job, and going to school, my family loves my slow cooker too as they get home cooked meals even when I am not sure if I'm coming or going. I am always looking for new recipes to try and winning this one would give me the ability to make more than one meal at a time. I could even make a good dessert in this one. My absolute favorite thing to make in a slow cooker is homemade chicken stock. I save all my kitchen scraps-roasted sweet potato skins, corn cobs and husks, insides of tomatoes, broccoli stalks, carrot peels, onion skins, etc... in large resealable freezer bags. When I have a few leftover chicken carcasses, I toss them in the slow cooker, add bay leaves, peppercorns, onion and garlic and any of the frozen vegetables that looks good. (Don't forget a splash of vinegar to draw the nutrients out of the bones.) Set on low and walk away all day or all night. Strain out and discard all solids, and you will have the most delicious chicken stock to use for recipes or whatever!
I hate to say I dont have one! I have never managed to buy a slow cooker as an adult, and only have memories of a neighbors dishes she'd make. I know my first attempt at a meal in it would be some variation on a pot roast.

I love corned beef brisket cooked in a slow cooker. It is SOOO much more tender than baking in the conventional oven, it practically melts in your mouth. And almost completey error-free. I buy the seasoned brisket, pop it into the slow cooker with just enough water to cover, turn it on and forget it. It doesn't even need braising or browning first. Several hours later, not only is dinner ready to serve, but the mouth-watering aroma coming from your kitchen says "Welcome Home!"

My favorite slow cooker meal is chicken fricasee, or, as my sister calls it, friggin' chickasee! My mom always made for us when we visited but she did it the old fashioned way-in a pot on the stove. Now we are so fortunate to have slow cookers. Makes it so much easier.
Yummmmm, my mom's pot roast, far and away my fave slow-cooker meal. Both times after coming home with my new babies, the smell of dinner wafting from the slow-cooker just made it all so much easier. (Plus, obviously, my mom rocks.) Unfortunately, our slow-cooker didn't survive our last move. This one is gorgeous!

There's nothing more comforting in the winter than a hot pot roast with carrots and potatos. YUM!
We take a pork roast and cook until it totally shreds up. We then add our favorite bbq sauce and it makes great bbq sandwiches. If we make too much we can freeze some for use later.

very nice,great for a roast.
I bought a cooker last year, but it turned out to be so small I really don't use it. I would love to have this large one. In the fall and winter, I like to cook roast beef, beef stew, chicken and dumplings. I have a tendency to forget food that's cooking on the stove, (when I'm on the computer) so a slow cooker is ideal for me. I don't have to jump up and stir it every few minutes. I ruin more food that way!
This has to be one of the coolest prizes ever! What an incredible time saver and from such a great manufacturer. We love to make beef roasts with veggies and this would be perfect for it.
I'd make so many delicious things... pork roasts, chickens, beef roasts...mmm...

Our favorite slow cooker meal is Barbecue pork Ribs.

Pulled pork, yummy.
Navy Bean soup
I live in the (practically, but not really) tundra, so slow cookers are a must for our long winters. Last winter I dropped mine on the kitchen floor and the ceramic part broke. My parents had an extra one they let me borrow for the rest of the winter. Then my dog broke the lid on theirs while trying to get at my chili. So now I am slow cooker less. Please, I'd love to try this nice new one. I would treasure it! So would my dog, for any leftover chili that comes her way :)
