Giveaway: Five copies of Recipe of the Week: Ice Cream: 52 Easy Recipes for Year-Round Frozen Treats by Sally Sampson, published by Wiley
Find it: Buy it at Wiley for $16.95.
When it comes to dessert cookbooks, we want photos. And not just any photos - big, luscious, deliciously colorful photos. And of course the recipes need to match up in quality. Well, when it comes to ice cream, we have just the book for you.
This small, friendly, and colorful book is a delightful primer for ice cream chefs. It includes many basic recipes like Sweet Cream and Cocoa Sorbet. But it quickly dives into more original spaces, with recipes for things like Pretzel and Chocolate Gelato, Graham Cracker Malted Vanilla Ice Cream, and Grape-Nuts Ice Cream. Yes, Grape-Nuts - the health cereal. It actually sounds amazing - one recipe we definitely bookmarked to try.
One interesting note is that the author strongly advocates using sugar syrup in eggless ice creams, which she says makes them smoother. We are interested in trying this out.
There's a recipe for every week of the year - many of them just right for the season - and most lavishly photographed. It's a lovely book. We're giving away five copies!
TO ENTER THE GIVEAWAY: The entry process today is twofold. First, fill out the form below with your name and address so we can get the products out to the winners quickly. THEN tell us what kind of ice cream or sorbet you would still like to make (even after all this ice cream coverage!). You must submit the form AND add a comment.
Fill out the form AND type a comment in the comment section below by 8:59pm PT/11:59 EST Sunday, August 24, 2008. The five winners will be selected at random. Good luck!
