Madelines, of course!
Shortbread and fresh fruit! Though the cookies' flavorsing depend on the tea, of course, some of my favorites are lemon and poppyseed, dark chocolate and craisin, and orange and almond. YUM!
(Also, that tea set is beautiful! I covet!)
scones with clotted cream and lemon curd
My husband is British and my mother-in-law makes all kinds of wonderful sweet treats to have with tea. I love her shortbread, her fruit-loaf, and she makes these delicious chewy oatmeal treats called flapjacks. Oh to be in Scotland with a cup of tea and a flapjack!
Rosemary, lemon and orange infused shortbread. Delightful
My homemade almond poppy seed bread! A coworker told me it was just like his mothers (and that made me happy to no end!).
This may seem silly, but my favorite childhood memory was having tea and a bowl of elbow macaroni in broth with my grandfather at sidewalk cafes in Hong Kong.
a slice of whole grain bread (a really nutty one), spread with goat cheese, and topped with honey and figs.
sweet and savory shortbreads!
my favorite thing to have with tea has to be a simple scone with with clotted cream and jam...any jam will do...but I do love a seeded rasberry or fig...
preferably with a nice breakfast blend tea...yummm!
toasted Ezekiel raisin bread- with creamy neufchatel cheese.
my favorite thing to eat with tea are blueberry lemon scones that my husband makes with a good book on a cool, cloudy fall afternoon.
I love to have tea with a scone with clotted cream and lemon curd, and I love to have some little cucumber sandwiches too.
Back home, my mom always make something called "Parippu vada" (its made with dal: http://pachakam.com/recipe.asp?id=1470) to go with the tea when we come back from school. Its slightly spicy and goes wonderfully with the Chai...
Strawberry tarts with cream and a shortbread crust - YUM!
homemade lemon pound cake....yum!
scones. especially raspberry scones.
Definitely raspberry scones and cucumber and dill sandwiches. Throwback to tea at the hotel with my mother when I was small.....
uh, is crumpets the right answer? unlike everyone else who likes a classic carb item, I usually end up eating carrots with my tea...it's just always been my after work snack.
Chocolate or possibly cardamom cookies. Lovely.
I love red tea with a piece of toasted, buttered, cinnamon'd and sugared sourdough. Heaven.
The classic cucumber sandwich.
Wouldn't it be better to say set of teacups? Tea set implies a teapot and sugar/creamer also.
chocolate! or an english muffin with farm cheese and bacon
beautiful set! I'd love to sip tea out of these and enjoy some shortbread with it!!
Buttery shortbread cookies!
I love homemade Tea Cake with my tea .
Shortbread
I actually love making a green tea salad dressing. Simultaneous eat & drink!
Heh, anything! Tea is my primary drink for meals, be it iced or hot. I suppose my favorite thing with tea is peanut butter toast...or chocolate truffles...or sushi...
muffins, crunchy cookies, anything that doesn't overpower the tea but adds to the flavor. Although i don't really consider it like other teas my favorite tea has to be chai tea.
crumpets.
Although to this day I don't really know what a crumpet is. But when I was little my mom would bring out the tea set and we would make whole wheat toast with some kind of jam. We'd cut them into tiny triangles and sip our tea while eating our 'crumpets'.
This was our special break from 12,000 acres of dryland wheat farming. For a little swedish farmgirl, this was the height of culture. Good memories, thanks. :)
I love to drink tea with raspberry tarts!
Mini cucumber and dill sandwiches, or anything mini really!
Chocolate. Of course thats my favorite thing to eat with any thing. I don't generally eat anything while drinking tea.

When I was in college, I studied in the UK and happened to have the chance opportunity to have high tea at 4pm in a little pub in Canterbury. It was a magical time and the meal that accompanied it was and is my favorite thing to eat with tea.
crispy spicy oatmeal cookies!
For a while, my favourite snack was a pot of tea and toast with jam. Lots of jam. Sometimes, I'll add a spoonful of jam to the tea (a la Russian tea). Works best with cherry or apricot. Serious yum.
Swedish cardamom bread also goes nicely.
Oh, anything with strawberries-- strawberry cake, strawberry parfait, strawberry pie, strawberry shortcake...
almond pear cake
I love to have ginger cookies with my tea! I have to hide them from my husband, because he'll indiscriminately eat them with anything - and fast! Comfy on the couch with tea and cookies is totally the way to be! :)
Breakfast!
Well, I think that my very favorite tea to drink is chai, so some cardamom cookies may be my very most favorite thing to eat with the tea. The flavors go so well together.
When I try out the fresh tea from my weekly CSA, I sometimes pair it with shortbread cookies. They soak up everything nice and add a hint of sweetness to the beverage without having to add anything to it.
I eat bagels with my tea. How American of me.
I don't eat anything habitually with tea... that's a hard question! Though if I was planning a tea party, shortbread would be my choice.
Ginger scones fresh from the farmer's market. Nothing like indulging in fresh baked goods after a long saturday morning run.
ritz crackers with peanut butter
Toast.
homemade cranberry almond biscotti or homemade buttermilk scones with cranberries... i love anything cranberry with my favorite lemon or cranberry apple zinger!
My favorite thing to eat at a tea party would have to be what in my family is referred to as "lady sandwiches." Growing up, my mother hosted her book club a few times a year. When she did, out came the tiny cucumber and cheese sandwiches with the crusts cut off, a delicacy my siblings and I were only treated to when all of the ladies came to our house. Not only did we have to be on our absolute best behavior, but if we were extra helpful we got to stay up a little bit later and eat those "lady sandwich" leftovers. I'd share this tea set with my sister and cut the crusts of her sandwich if she was very very good.
Honestly - store bought Nabisco gingersnaps. So spicy!
I switch back and forth between drinking tea and coffee with my breakfast. I'm currently on coffee, but with the rising temperatures, I'll probably be going back to tea soon. Even hot, tea seems less heavy.
In any case, as it is breakfast, I would usually have my tea with some fruit and yogurt, or possibly some cereal. I'm not a fan of dessert for breakfast, and it always feels too early for something like a sandwich, or something heavy like eggs or bacon.
Cucumber and cream cheese on thinly sliced rye bread; tart cherry scones with homemade apricot jam
No joke....Peanut Butter and Jelly. It turned into a late night ritual while doing homework I put off till the last minute.

My first inclination was to say "coffee" since I have been known to drink both at the same. But coffee is not really something to eat so I'll say freshly made beignets with tons of powdered sugar.
Lemon lavender shortbread with my earl grey, please!
beautiful!
either a berry-packed blueberry muffin or a korean walnut cookie. yum!
A little bit of milk in the tea served with cinnamon-sugar toast. Mom always gave this to us when we were sick, and I find that it still fixes just about anything.

When I'm feeling pretentious, I say scones, but when I'm just looking for a hot cuppa with a handful of comfort, they're old fashioned baking-powder biscuits, slapped into shape between my two hands, baked to a nice golden brown, and eaten with honey or homemade strawberry jam. Yummy!

I love scones with tea.
Our Pastor's wife grew up on a farm and, because her Mum
came from England, they had tea at 3 o'clock on the dot
every afternoon. She said that it was so fun and comforting
to have that tea to look forward to every day after getting
off the schoolbus. Her dad and mum would be sitting there
at the kitchen table that was set with teacups and "a bit
of something to take with our tea". Things could be discussed
at the tea table of all sorts -- happy things, things that were
troubling the children, funny things -- it was just a family place where all could talk together and strengthen family ties.
She and her family now do the very same, and her daughter's special gift at turning 13 years old was her very own
tea service. She uses it on occasion now, and she looks forward to the day when it will be a part of her home and tea traditions as a wife and mom.
All of this to say....I think that it's not so much what is
served with the tea, but the love and grace that goes along
with it all that matters most to me. Sometimes we have
ginger biscuits, other times perhaps lemon shortbread or
small cherry cheesecake tarts. But I hope that the memories
of family times at the tea table are the choicest fare of
our special tea times together.
