Straw Mat from The ...

Oh hell yes. I've actually never cooked with mango (did try to grill them last week; not a disaster but not really worth it) because I just devour them as soon as they come in sight. However, a friend makes an incredible mango salmon dish, with which I would celebrate the receipt of this wonderful giveaway.
holy crap this is the best giveaway i've ever seen!!!
me and my grandmother would make mango ice cream together, so maybe i'd do a little sumpin sumpin like that.
but what iiii really want is some mango salsa!!!
What a great offer! it makes me smile just to think of bunch of juicy mangoes!
I love spicy mango salsa!
WOW!
Mango sorbet for all.
ooooh, mango chutney for sure. but i need to make some mango ice cream this summer.
My favorite mango dish: We made this a lot on vacation in Costa Rica:
1 mango, peeled, pitted
Costa Rican Rum
Put in blender and blend until smooth, drink with straw
Another mango recipe for the summer which I made a couple weeks ago:
Mango Mint Lemonade Popsicles
Slice Mango into small pieces
Place mango into popsicle molds, alternating with finely chopped mint. It's OK to squeeze the mango in there pretty tightly. Top off with prepared lemonade. Freeze. The frozen mango is the most lovely texture and the lemonade gives the popsicle a nice kick!
My favorite mango dish is well--mangos! There's not really any way to improve something that's perfect. My 8 year old son will go gaga if we win these, it's his favorite food. He quite enjoys mango sorbet as well.
Sliced mangoes dipped in salt & pepper flakes....or sliced Thai chili peppers when I want a bigger kick.
Best. Giveaway. Ever!
I'll be making my Chicken and Mango wraps with Guac! And combined with all my herbs and veggies growing in containers, I have everything to make some killer fresh mango salsa!
Simple is best here: mango with a squeeze of lime!
Also, a treat I had in the Philippines, a kind of freezer cake. Layer white cake (we bought sponge cake, but I bet angel food cake would be great) with cream and mango, then put in freezer 'til thoroughly chilled.
My favorite is grilled mango salsa - slice mangos, brush with olive oil and grill until lightly browned. Chop red onions, jicama, and add to roughly chopped mango. Finish with chiffonade of basil and mint. I also add a few drops of green tabasco for some heat.
mmmmmmm mango ice cream
Woo-hoo for Mangos!!!
My recipe: Spread cream chesse on 2 tortilla shella, add diced mangos and jalapeno between them, and toss on the grill for a bit.
This treat is crisp, sweet, and packs a punch!
Mango sorbet but, really, just plain mango is awesome.
I've been wanting to make mango chutney & naan for me and mango pickles for the Guy.
Funny because I just had a mango and banana smoothie for lunch. But, by far my most favorite recipe is a black bean, brown rice and mango salad-great w/fish tacos.
2 champange mangoes, pureed with powdered sugar [depends on sugar content]
pinch of cinnamon, pinch of cardamom, pinch of ginger powder
heated until bubbly, strained
poured over pineapple-coconut ice cream, topped with cashews.
OI! SO GOOD!
I like mango lassis :)
I really think the best thing to do with mangos is make salsa. They are great in drinks too, but I can never manage to make anything more complicated then salsa without just stuffing them in my mouth, so salsa it is.
Mango Salsa or a mango smoothie
Mango with sticky rice!
I could use a Mango-anything right about now.
let's see, mangos.... cubed? maybe with some other fruit thrown in to make a salad (strawberries, bananas)? maybe even a few mint leaves to spice things up? who cares -- ITS MANGO AND ITS DELICIOUS!!!! I will eat it with anything!! :)
ditto above!!
I'll use them for my own personal favorite cupcake recipe. Mango cupcakes with Lime, Chili Powder, and Neufchâtel cheese frosting. YUM!!!
http://vanillagarlic.blogspot.com/2007/05/mango-lime-cupcakes-with-neufchtel.html
mangos and yogurt.
or just plain.
or in Ezekial cereal.
or in oatmeal.
mangos with chillis like in Mexico
OR
pureed mango with ginger to use as a topping for pudding, ice cream, etc.
I love to just eat them plain, at room temperature; they compete with peaches and strawberries for my favorite fruit. The aroma of a good mango is amazing.
my mom makes shrimp in a vodka-mango cream sauce and it is yummy!
I concur on the ice cream comment
Mmmangos over vanilla ice cream or yogurt or rice pudding, or just straight out of the skin!
This post is so enticing, I finally registered on AT!
Low key -- Mangos, lime juice, chili powder and sea salt
More labor intensive -- mango tofu summer rolls
Mango Milkshakes! I would even bust out the cute little drink umbrellas for such a delicious occasion!
Mango ice cream
cool mango slices with warm coconut sticky rice or mango lassi.
I think mango lassis!!
mango mousse with almond shortbread
I've never had a mango last long enough to cook with it. They're just great sliced fresh.
mango lassis are classic.
Also, mango slices, red onion, cilantro, and a mild cheese like mozzarella on tortillas make for awesome quesadillas.
the first thing i would make is mango and white bean salsa... it goes great with any fish or seafood :)
I always just eat them plain, they're so good that way. But with a box of mangoes I would certainly try out some new recipes.
No one can resist Mango!
My favorite made-up mango treat is cubed mangoes and pineapples, with globs of goat cheese and mint sprinkled throughout. Mmmmmmmdroooool.
I've only ever eatten them plain! But I've heard they're an aphrodisiac!
I grew up in Jamaica climbing mango trees, picking the ripest looking fruit, peeling the skin off with my teeth and eating it while sitting on the limbs.
Being Jamaican, I love all things spicy. We used to make Mango "Peppa-Pot". Pretty simple recipe:
An under-ripe mango
Minced Scotch Bonnet Pepper
Dash of salt and black pepper
and a tiny bit of acid (lime juice or vinegar)
Let it sit in its juices and contemplate it's existence (if you can actually resist the urge to eat it right away).. then enjoy.
Mmm.. Id devour several portions while sucking air in through my teeth to cool my mouth down..
toasted peanut butter and mango sandwiches... the peanut butter gets all warm and gooey while the mango slices stay cool.
Fav dish I can make: Mango chutney with pork tenderloin.
Fav mango dish I've ever had: @ Pigalle in Boston, I had this chocolate gelato dessert with these tiny mango drops and they were spicy and oh man, it was just delicious.
I made a mango sorbet a few weeks ago that was amazing! A couple mangos, a little sugar, and about half a cup yogurt. That's it. Delicious!
mango lassis, if I can keep from devouring them all! Man, I'd have a mango party. Yum!
Mango with sticky rice! A must for dessert after a Thai meal.
Well, ever since I was a little kid, I've always eaten it as is, or slightly cold out of the fridge with a spoon. But, I do adore mango salsa and mango-based smoothies, so I guess those would count.
And if I had an ice cream maker of some sort, I'd try recreating the mango gelato that I get in Little Italy in the summertime!
mango salsa is awesome over fish. I also love it with coconut milk and sticky rice.
mango sticky rice!
This is a fun giveaway. I grew up eating mangoes like you would an apple. I like to drink mango lassi and I love salsa with mango.
I looooove mangoes! Mango salsa, mango compote for pancakes, fresh sliced mangoes. Yummmmm...
mango salsa! mango ice cream! mango salad (okay just cut-up mango) with fresh herbs!
Mango salsa! I'm allergic to tomatoes so I am slightly obsessed with this variation.
WANT.
The greatest regret of my life is not liking mangoes when I lived in India for four months.
mango salsa for sure. Or smoothies.
Mango with Lime, With lime and chili, with lime and chili and salt.
Mango Belini, mango sorbet, mango salsa, mango straight up.
Mango with Yogurt, mango on tart, mango in fruit salad, mango in green salad, mango poached.
Mango pudding from dim sum restaurants.
Mango late at night, cut up in the fridge, with cold sticky juice running down your hand and the slightly under ripe edges making your lips tingle.
Say it with me people. mango...
I <3 this Island Pork Tenderloin Salad:
http://maiapapaya.wordpress.com/2007/04/15/an-old-standby-on-a-sunny-day/
Sorry my blog isn't pretty anymore.. i haven't been blogging, so i let my upgraded account die :*(
mango lassi
ever since moving into a hispanic neighborhood, i've been obsessed with mangoes with lime juice and chili powder. growing up in japan and pittsburgh, i would've NEVER put that combination together!
I'm afraid my favorite mango dish is mango. Fresh mango can't be beat; it's nice in lassi or chutney, and it sure perks up a fruit salad, but all I really need is a good sharp knife and a ripe mango to make me happy.
mango lassi and mango pie
mmm... mangoes. when I'm not eating them plain, off the stone, I love working them into a chutney or fresh salsa, and serving it over leftover cold rice. wonderful summer treat.
woooohoo! let me at em! i don't know about a dish, but a little mango juice in some Hangar One Buddha's Hand vodka, a small splash of cointreau, and a nice sugared martini glass - now we're talkin!
I love mangoes plain, but my favorite is to make a mango salsa. Chopped mangoes, diced red onion, jalapeno, cliantro and lime juice and then put it all on top of a a warm fish taco!
Mango sorbet is my favorite way to enjoy the fruit (second, of course, to eating it out of hand), but I liked this recipe from Molly Stevens where it's braised with pork, coconut milk, and lime:
http://littlebouffe.blogspot.com/2006/04/pressure-cooker-triumph-pork-with.html
I love fresh mango salsa over grilled red snapper, or fish tacos. Mangos are so nutritious, and in a way are like a medicine. Would adore this prize.
skytoucher
black bean and mango salsa!
assuming I don't devour it as soon as it's sliced: Mango salsa is a summer time must have, also a great snack - mangos slicces into little sticks, and then dipped in a combination of chili powder, salt and sugar - yum
Halibut (baked in soy/lime/ginger marinade) with Mango Salsa.
I love mangoes in a salsa. It goes well on top of chips or even as a marinade for meat.
mango sorbet is good, as is mango salsa... I could eat them by themselves all day too!
Mango salsa and mango sorbet. Mangoes are my favorite fruit. Winning this would be heaven.
We love mangos in our household. We eat them plain or over ice cream or mix them in a smoothie. The absolute best mango dish I ever had is the fresh mango ice cream that a local Thai restaurant makes and serves over sticky rice. It is an awesome dessert: sticky, sweet, creamy and fruity. Yum!
Mine is a Cooking Light recipe for Chicken with Curried Mango Sauce -- look for it on their website (cookinglight.com). It's easy and delicious as hell. I like to add chopped fresh cilantro, but it isn't necessary.
Mango, mango how much I love thee
Whether you are of the Haitian, Champaign, Rose, Julie, or King Alphonso variety
When green you are a divine chutney
With a little spice you make for a fine juicy snack
As a mousse you quiver and tease
But you're at your best simply naked and sweet!
I prefer to eat them raw, greedily, right off the knife blade. When I got a case of Alphonsos that were too squishy to slice, though, I made sherbet, which was mighty nice. The recipe was from Christopher Kimball's Dessert Bible.
Just sliced mango, chile, and lime juice. And gnawing on the seed is the best part!
Homemade mango ice cream!
I'd love to win.
Mango teriyaki ribs!
Smash up overripe mangoes until pulpy, mix in some teriyaki sauce, honey, soy sauce, ginger and black pepper. Marinate, then cook in the oven at 350 or on the grill. Careful to not let the honey burn. Continue to spoon/paint the marinade on the ribs as they cook.
Garnish with a few slices of mango! YUM!
My favorite is just mango with a squeeze of fresh lime! The best on a hot day!
mango salsa is unimaginative but so darn good! but what i love best is mango lassi. oh hell, or just eating it straight up so that it drips down your forearms...
I love fresh, chilled mango with lavender salt and lime juice.
Great giveaway!
I would make mango smoothies with cinnamon and yogurt. I would make mango-cinnamon popsicles. Finally, I would eat a lot of the mangoes all by themselves!
Just cold mangoes -- My son loves to eat "pop-up" mangoes. I cut off half of the mango from the pit, cut a grid in it and, pop! A pop-up mango, ripe and ready for his lunch box. I get to gnaw the rest of the good stuff off the pit myself!
Pickled mango - soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper with a slightly green mango. Yum!
My favorite mango dish is a toss up between our homemade mango salsa and our homemade mango ice cream. I'll go with the ice cream since we are making some this weekend....and we are going to add cinnamon this time. We add different things each batch and we can never decide which one is our favorite. Yummy!
I love mango and red pepper salsa over grilled chicken. So good, with fresh cilantro.
Mango Salsa and Mango Chutney - love it with those hot and savory flavors!
Eating it straight out of the skin, cubed, with a little lime juice. Heaven, and that's the truth!
Mango Chutney! I would make tons of it with these mangos!
Egg roll wraps or pastry stuffed with mango and banana puree (sometimes with chocolate chips or cream cheese).
Deep fried.
Served alone, or dusted with sugar or with a syrup.
sticky mango rice! yum....
mango with lemon or lime juice with chili powder.
philippine mangos are very good. mango by itself is tasty especially on a hot day.
like everyone else said, mango sorbet and mango salsa!
I can't say it is actually a recipe but with each of my three pregnancies I have been mango crazy. So much so that not a single mango reached an actual plate. They get pealed, and then devoured with the seed still intact. In fact when we found out we were having a third child my husband exclaimed, "Of course! That explains all the mangoes you bought this week!"
I just came across this lil gem of a website!
I absolutely love love love mango. In the summertime, there's always mangoes in my house. Of course, plain mango is absolutely delicious in itself. But ripe mango dipped in salt and chili powder is great too. And you can't go wrong with mango sorbet. Or mango salsa. Or mango anything for that matter. =)
I love them plain, right off the knife. I would search for a recipe for mango sweet bread, like they make at Loafers. MMMMMM!!!!!!!
I like them plain best, but in lassi form they're also delicious.
I love them out of hand, but sprinkled with salt and chili and lime is also divine. Please pick me!
curried mango quinoa salad, a wonderful recipe from Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone.
I love my grandma's mango pudding. I haven't made it in awhile but it's basically mango puree, gelatin and heavy whipping cream. My husband also makes a wonderful mango salsa that he puts over tilapia. But mango anything is good.
I love mango coconut sticky rice!
mango smoothies or ice cream!

2-In a large bowl, gently mash lime juice in with shrimp paste and Roma tomato wedges. Then add contents of the mortar, papaya, and mango. Mix and enjoy.

Mango salsa, yumm!
Oh - mangoes are so delicious on their own, but suddenly I'm craving one with a drizzle of plain yogurt!
I love fresh mango w/ sweet sticky rice. Yum!
mango salsa over mahi tacos!
Definitely a mango lassi.
i love mangos.
my favorite mango concoction is mango chutney. soooo good with samosas. and everything else. :)
Recipe? I so never get that far. I do love them cubed over vanilla ice cream, and they are great with cottage cheese for breakfast.
Smoothies, also known as liquados.
I personally like mango salsa with charred red bell pepper, red onion, lime juice, and honey. Goes great with pork.
Mango Salsa, sorbet, and or yoghurt
I love to eat them plain, in a salad with cherry tomatoes or as dessert in sorbet!
mango salsa
I think this is the most exciting AT giveaway EVER! You should do a mangosteen giveaway, too, I would totally enter that.
I'm actually planning to make a mango dish tonight: Pork Mango Picadillo from Simply Recipes
Mango and sticky rice!! You cannot beat it. :)
Just chopped up in good greek yogurt...
Macadamia-crusted chicken over greens with orzo, hearts of palm, tomatoes, avocado and MANGO - one of my favorite summer dishes inspired by the salad at Josie's in NY.
I love them just the way they are.
But, I've never tried mango with sticky rice and seeing it mentioned here, that just sounds so perfect.
I love them just all natural, but also in a fruit salad and makin a mango sorbet sound very good too.
Mango and sticky rice, of course! Also love them just as they are, peeled...oh, yea, salsa!
fresh mango, scooped right out with a spoon
The mangos in my house dont last long enough to use them in a recipe. Although i do love mango sorbet but that i buy already made.
my son is just starting to eat solids and mangos are a perfect starter food for babies!
Mango Salsa--hands down!
Put oil, chile powder, garlic, cumin and a little bit of oregano over medium-high heat. Add corn kernals and sautee until hot. Add to a bowl of diced red onion, mango, and avocado. Pour some lime juice over the top. Add some cilantro.
Enjoy!
Mangos mangos mangos!! I'd make all my favorites: ice cream, salsa, salad, and grilled - we'd have the Summer of the Mango!
We make fantastic mango margaritas. Blend those bad boys up... instant party!
Mango - Black Bean Salad from Sara Moulton of Gourmet... found it on the Food Network site.
http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,,FOOD_9936_8141,00.html
Red onion, avocado and lime juice round out the flavors. I make it so much that I've started doubling the recipe. It's a winner!
My summertime favorite is mango popsicles - chopped mangoes, a little orange juice to loosen things up, and full fat plain yogurt for some creaminess. Throw it all in the blender, pour into molds (if you can keep yourself from having a smoothie) and freeze! It's like the creamsicle you remember having as a kid but so much better.
i tried a recipe once for a mango-avocado burger - DELICIOUS. creamy, sweet... no need for ketchup!
I love mango salsa. I've never actually made it myself, but I get seriously excited whenever I see it.
Does chopped fresh mango count as a recipe? My 7 year old loves mangos just the way they are. He probably wouldn't mind if I made a sorbet though.
I personally love a good mango salsa.
Cubed fresh mango served with Sharon's coconut sorbet. Yum!
mango lassi!! yummmm
i would love to have enough mangoes to make mango chutney.
at home in trinidad, my grandmother has a mango tree, so we always had excess mangoes when they were in season. but here, they are so expensive that i cannot bring myself to buy them for anything but eating as is. which is ironic, because they are nowhere near as good as the ones at home.
I just learned how to cut up a mango recently; before that I'd never taken one home from the grocery store.
I like mangoes in dishes with a savory element; like most people it seems, mango salsa is a huge fave. I haven't gotten beyond making a smoothie myself though!
I like them so many ways, sliced over vanilla ice cream, mango salsa over a nice salmon or just plain as an afternoon summer snack!
Mango sorbet. There is a great recipe in the Perfect Scoop by David Lebovitz.
A mango lassi is always lovely! I'm working on a mango & chili jam recipe this summer!!
Ok, first of all, the National Mango Board has a great part of their website where there are videos of how to cut a mango. It's super useful.
Second of all, what I would make is a ton of my favorite fruit salad: Mango, avocados, grape tomatoes, basalmic vinegar, and feta cheese. YUM.
I've got mangos on the brain and I usually like mangos straight up, but I've been wanting to try making Mango on Sticky Rice. It looks fairly simple and to top it off - fresh mangos!
At Coney Island last weekend there was a guy selling whole mangoes on sticks, cut to look like flowers. Beautiful, and a delicious alternative to hot dogs!
Mango chutney bbq glaze for chicken! Or just some fresh slices with a little vanilla ice cream.
Black bean and mango burritos.
In one (small) pan, saute some onion in a bit of olive oil. Add a can of drained black beans, a couple shakes of cumin and pepper, and diced garlic.
In another pan, saute some diced mango in a teeny bit of butter (not necessary if it's a nonstick pan), just long enough for it to release the juices.
Spread some beans and some mango on a tortilla and top with cheddar cheese. YUM.
mango ice cream and mango lassi.... :)
The first time ever I've heard of mangoes was on a snowy December in my home tome in Siberia. I was a small kid, and it was a time when "see smth - get it or it's gone". So, some time before the New Year we found mango juice (in 1L slass jars) in our store. We bought some - as much as we could carry. When we got it home, we opened one and it was an entirely new world for us. So, we took our sleds (small kiddie ones, but we often used it to go "shopping" in winter months) and went back to the store. You could not tell what color the floor was in our corridor, that's how many bottles we bought. The first time I saw a real mango was a few years ago, when I moved to the States. It's still kinda a novelty for me, so I eat it fresh or in smothies. But I will remember that "mango-juice winter" forever :)
mango-jalapeno salsa on grilled salmon!
mango-banana relish/salsa: diced mangoes, bananas, red peppers, red onions, a bit of chili pepper and salt, and a squeeze of lime.
Sliced nicely with a squeeze of lime juice.
a belly pleaser - i've recreated this from a restaurant in portland. essentially sweetened, creamy coconut jasmine rice with plenty of diced mango on top & then dusted with good quality cinnamon. a wonderful way to start a weekend...
Mango mousse! I use this recipe:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5KkR2fexPU
Also since I missed Mango season in India this year where we eat them hands and all to get all the delicious juices even from the seed (No whimpy mango cutter for us!) am suffering serious withdrawal symptoms....
Please, pretty please (with some mango sorbet on top)....
A musing M.
http://inthemoodforhalal.wordpress.com/
there is nothing more refreshing to me than simple mango salsa with corn chips. i just through some cut up mango in with diced red onion, minced jalapeno, and a little bit of lime juice. yummy!
Mangoes need no recipe- straight up for me.
I could live on mangoes! I prefer them on their own or with yogurt or ricotta.
Mango shake.
I usually just eat them raw since they are such a rare treat for me. But if I was to win a couple boxes I think that there would be some mango salsa for fish tacos and some sort of mango mixed drink. Oh, and a fruit salad with raspberries and blueberries and mango! So many wonderful options!
i love to make a mango salad of diced mango, fresh mint, and lemon juice. that's it. super simple and delicious!
that and mango sliced up and covered in lime juice and chile powder.
Mango salsa on grilled salmon (which then becomes "Slammin' Salmon") is terrific, but I'd love to try to duplicate the mango brown betty I had in Hawaii!
wow! Mangoes! That's my favorite fruit ever: I even named my blog Mango&Tomato :) (http://mangotomato.blogspot.com)
My favorite mango recipe? That's a tough one. Honestly, if the mangoes are perfectly ripe, I love eating them as is. Ooh, I want some right now!
Mango chutley or salsa, and mango popsicles!
Mango salsa and pureee them for mango popsicles for my son!
Love the sorbet or with chile powder on it.
Love mango lassi, especially in this hot weather. But mango with anything (ice cream, yogurt, or just plain) is lovely.
-Rini
I once made a tangerine ginger cheesecake that turned out really well. With this giveaway, I'm contemplating mango cheesecake. Hmmm. But if that turned out to be a disaster, I would definitely go with mango lassi.
I used to live in the Caribbean and this is a recipe I picked up from a very good friend of mine who is from Jamaica:
Bev DeCosta's Mango Salsa:
1 or 2 Mangoes (not too ripe), cubed
1 can Black Beans
1 can Pinto Beans
1 can Kidney Beans
1 Bell Pepper, diced
1 medium Red Onion, diced
8-12oz of Corn (frozen, canned or fresh)
12-16oz Tomatoes (canned is fine), diced
1/4-1/2 C Olive Oil
1/4 C Lime Juice (fresh is best!)
Cilantro (as much or as little as you like), chopped
1 T Sugar
1 t Adobo Seasoning
Salt & Pepper to taste
Mix in a large bowl, chill, and serve with tortilla chips.
Always a hit. Yum!
Mangoes are my favorite fruit, so I like them plain. But also in a smoothie, with just some ice and milk.
mango is fabulous all by itself when it's ripe, I wouldn't dare mess with its natural perfection
Mango a sharp paring knife, both to peel it and to scare away anyone who thinks I want to share!
Mango martinis!!!
I usually eat mangos plain, but I love mango lassis and mango chutney is an amazing compliment to grilled salmon or chicken.
Mango fried rice or mango sorbet for me. I just got an ice cream maker and I'd love to throw some mango in there!
My dear pal's husband will make us all his famous mango margaritas!
Mango chutney is my favorite mango dish ever, though I must say, eating them all messy and on their own and without a fork might just be better.
sweet sweet mangoes
mango salsa!
I just throw mangoes, bananas and sometimes pineapple in the blender with ice/water/juice and make a smoothie!
I really like mango smoothies!
Yum! I'd make a mango salsa.
Fruit smoothies!

I like my mangoes plain, but nothing's better than these incredible mango-brie quesadillas at my favorite happy hour bar in Hollywood. Thin slices of magoes, warm melted brie and a little mango chutney on top. mmmmmm
sticky rice with custard topped with extra mango!
mango smoothie. drool.
I wife likes grilled salmon and mangos, I like to make a spicy dipping sauce with them and we can both agree on mango sorbet.
When I lived in Nicaragua I learned to LOVE mangoes spears with salt for snacking. Just thinking about them makes me a little hungry...
Oh I can have fun with these in the kitchen
I've never met a mango dish I didn't like, but mostly, I eat them before they can become anything else. Yummm!
Black bean and mango salsa!
the first sign of civilization we 4 girls spotted as we emerged from a muddy buggy 4-day hike through the Costa Rican rainforest was a tiny grocery store. we bought mangoes and vanilla ice cream; together, they were the best thing i've ever tasted.

yum. plain mango with a pinch of salt
Let me quote from Andrew Weilâs The Marriage of the Sun and Moon.
An Indian I met in Bombay told me that at the height of the season, people lie on the sidewalks with glazed looks of ecstasy as they let ripe mangos drip into their mouths. In his Autobiography of a Yogi, the late Paramahansa Yogananda wrote that it is impossible for a Hindu to conceive of a heaven without mangos. Recently I came across the following exchange between the great Hindu saint, Ramakrishna, and his chief disciple, Narendra:
Narendra: Is there no afterlife? What about punishment for our sins?
Master: Why not enjoy your mangos? What need have you to calculate about the afterlife and what happens then and things like that? Eat your mangoes. You need mangos.
oooh, a little tropical gazpacho with fresh mangos and pineapple.
Mango and sticky rice, preferably with the mango chilled and the sticky rice warm. This is hands down my favorite desert.
Mango lassi--a simple version. Just plain yogurt, mango, sugar, and ice, all blended.
Mango Salsa!!!
Well, I like them best as they are! Boring, I know. They are great alongside a traditional Philippino breakfast. I'd also like to try making them with bananas in turon (http://www.opensourcefood.com/people/lealea/recipes/classic-filipino-turon).
Just by themselves they are so delicious...but I'd also love to try making mango sorbet. A couple of days ago, I threw together an asian mango and yellow pepper salsa that involved shallots, lime juice, basil, rice vinegar, chili pepper, ginger, a little soy sauce, sriracha and some thai fish sauce. Delicious with the steamed snapper I made with it originally, and tonight leftover with fried tofu and rice.
mango slices over coconut sticky rice
Mangoes. Mmm... We can't keep mango salsa around here; I make it and it's gone. And mango and avocado sandwich on nice wheat bread? Delish. But more than anything I love them plain. So does my ten month old!
A big tub of chilled homemade mango pudding loaded with whole mango chunks!!
i like fresh mangoes just by themselves, although mango smoothies and mango slices over coconut sticky rice are delicious too
I gotta be honest here, I don't know that I've ever had a mango, let alone cook with them... may have had it hidden in a fruit salad at some point, but never expressly mango anything!
I like to puree mango and brush it onto tilapia when grilling - so good!! Every now & then I'll mix in some finely minced chili pepper to give it a sweet spicy kick.
mango ice cream is on my mind.....
mango salsa
Other than just enjoying mangos by themselves, I really like mango and peach salsa. Ripe mangos, ripe peaches, and some good peppers, very good.
I like mangos on their own. Mango salsa is good too, with some grilled fish.
I love love mangoes...especially eaten plain. I am pregnant now and eat about 5 a day!!
I also make mango lassi, just blend yogurt, some milk, cardamom and sugar in a blender with a few cubes of ice and enjoy. Make sure the yogurt is not sour.
I LOVE mangoes and this is absolutely a fantastic giveaway.
I love adobo chipotle pork soft tacos with a mango pineapple salsa.
Mango salsa!!!
What is it about mango salsa? I just can't get enough of that stuff!
Sliced mangoes, nothing else needed. Fresh, delicious fruit in all its glory!
Mango chutney glazed grilled chicken made with fresh mango chutney. Yurmmmm....
i actually love mangos just they way they are. Yummmmmmm what a treat.
Mango salsa and mango sorbet are favorites, but we also love them plain.
Hi, I enjoy making a simple fruit salad that includes mangoes. Our family would really enjoy these fresh mangoes. Please enter us in your drawing. Thanks, Cindi
mango salsa is the best.
there isn't a fruit I don't love
I've been in love with mango over coconut sticky rice ever since I was little....
Mango sticky rice--1-1.5 cups of sticky rice, 1 tsp salt, 1 tbsp sugar, 2 cups coconut milk, 1 mango peeled and sliced. Prepare sticky rice with coconut milk, serve with mango slices!
mango lassi--yum!
I would make Baja-style fish tacos with spicy mango salsa.
I love mango salsa
This may be weird, but I've never actually had a mango. So I have no favorite mango dish, but thanks so much for the opportunity.
Mango salso. Soooo good with grilled pork loin.
Perfect for summer - time to make some Latin American dishes!
I make a yummy Mango Banana Protein Lassi with Greek Yogurt and Mango Chunks (I freeze mangos in the height of the season and use them ice cold instead of ice cubes makes it nice and frosty)

mango kiwi salsa...YUM!
Mango and sticky rice for sure.
Mango salsa and mango ice cream. I would like to try to make mango sorbet and spicy mango chicken this summer.
I like Mangos plain and simple.
My mom makes an Indian (Konkani, specifically) dish with mangoes and coconuts, which we eat over rice. So delicious. Raw mangoes are wonderful, too!
pork roast with fresh rosemary and mango chutney...would also like to try making some mango ice cream!
If I am not eating them plain I like to make Mango Margaritas. They are so good.
Mix with vanilla ice cream
Mango lassi. Lots of yogurt, a mango or two peeled & cubed, some sugar, and cardamom pods. Crush the seeds from the pods & separate from the husks, put everything in the blender and mix until smooth. Yum! Refreshing.
What a fun give away! I love mangoes, in college I used to order them by the case and eat them for lunch everyday with a small bag of pretzels.
Recently I've mixed them shredded with chicken and made flautas, very yummy with guac.
Mango chutney all the way! Some chicken breasts, some brie, and a whole lotta chutney!
This funny thing happens every time i buy mangoes. I intend to make something, like mango ice cream, but they just seem to disappear! mmm they are tasty
Thanks for letting me know I won the mangoes. I am beyond thrilled. Please send them to Sheila Christensen, 1609 Grandon Ave. #227, San Marcos, CA 92074
