Giveaway: Linden Sweden Wall Mount Magnetic Knife Rack
Find it: Purchase through Amazon, $38.99
We did a quickie giveaway earlier today with the 20-piece (TWENTY?) knife set that Sara Kate gave away to a knife-hungry reader. Here now is our rather less lavish, but no less exciting, Thursday Giveaway: a knife rack from Swedish kitchen goods company Linden.
This won't hold all twenty of those knives, but we bet it will hold the knives most of us keep in our kitchen.
After all, all you really need is a good chef's knife, followed by a nice sharp paring knife and maybe a bread knife if you have space.
This rack will store knives with blades up to 9" long. It's made of sturdy powder coated metal and it mounts on the wall, which is a nice space saver in most of our kitchens. It has a magnetic strip to keep the knives upright, and it also has a frosted, see-through plastic guard to keep sharp blades (and your fingers) safe. The plastic cover can be removed for easy cleaning. Total dimensions: 9.25" x 9.25"

Monterey Pitcher fr...

My favorite knife is my Chef's knife. Its a basic kitchenaid stainless steel 8" chef's knife, but it handles just about every job I need a knife for.
I recently held a 6" Wusthof chef's knife and while I wasn't really planning on getting one when I picked it up, I really wish I had gone back to Bloomingdale's during their bi-annual sale to get it.
My favorite knife is the sturdy chef's knife my grandmother gave me when I moved into an off-campus apartment senior year of college. Made me feel like a big kid. :)
I have three chefs knives and I use them the most out of all my knives.
I only have 3 knives, 2 kinds total. 2 chef's knives and a paring knife, they seem to do the trick and would fit on that rack easily :D
the mezzaluna! by far! other than looking bizarrely out of place in my nice set, it chops my herbs like nothing. plus it gives me the safety of mind that as i'm chopping herbs as finely as i am, i'm also not this close to chopping off a fingertip.
my santoku knife is just all-purpose for me, and my tiny little paring knife, too. i could basically live with just those two, but then i really need that bread knife, too, don't i? okay, just those three... :)
A sharp chef's knife. I'd like to have two though- because I get in such a hurry when I cook, it'd be nice to have a clean one at the ready. It'd be nice to have more than 20 minutes to cook, but alas, two toddlers can create quite the mess in just a few unsupervised minutes.
My favorite knife is my Santoku knife that my parents bought for me from Korin. Very handy and compact. Was extremely sharpened when I bought it but now needs to be sharpened a bit.
I've been looking for a knife rack just like this. It'd be great to win.
a slicing knife - it's like a nimbler cousin of the chef's knife.
8" chef's knife. ultimate multitasker, perfect weight and size!
I'm all about precision... and I feel like you can't be any more precise then with a pairing knife... whenever you want to carve small intricate designs into fruits to be places atop a panna cotta, or to top off pancakes, or whatever, a pairing knife makes it easy, and allows you to pull off amazing presentations that will make your guests go wow!!
I use my 8" Henckels chef's knife for most things, but the knife that I enjoy the most is a smaller wustof bread knife - it is so super-sharp and it cuts tomatoes like butta'.
I bought a pretty basic serrated knife when I lived in London about five years ago for only 8 pounds. It's traveled all over with me including a few summers in the woods, and it's still my favorite.
A Global Santoku knife that friends gave us for our 25th anniversary last spring. I've never invested in a really good knife and this one works like a dream.
A cleaver! I use it for so many things (most of which it's not really designed for.)
Plus, it's fun.
My favorite knife is a sharp one-sadly rare in my kitchen
My favorite knife is a Cutco chef's knife that I bought from my brother when he joined to earn some extra scratch to help fund his trip to Japan.
Now that I'm living with my fiance, I have taught him that you really only need three knives, but you must be willing to spend good money for a great knife and you must take very good care of them. This would be a great way to reinforce good care of great knives.
My fave knife is a simple little paring knife, I use it for almost everything, even though I probably shouldn't.
My high quality serrated knife is the greatest thing in the world. It was the first knife I dropped a lot of money on and the way it slices through tomatoes like butter gives me warm fuzzies inside. Maybe it's love?
I have and love all the Forschner's Cooks Illustrated recommends. But my 2 favorites are my Forschner 7" Santoku, and 10" Chef's Knife, they fit in my hands perfectly, the weight is right, and they are easy to keep sharp.
chef's knife
Chef's knife, you can just do so much with it, not having a good one is cooking death.
it's hard to pick just one. my favorite knife at the moment is a short paring knife with a little beak of a point...
my kitchaid 10" santoku -> so sharp and the stuff doesnt stick much
It's a tie between chef's knife and paring knife.
I use my 8 inch chef's knife for virtually everything. As long it I keep it sharp, I hardly need anything else.
My 8 inch chef's knife is by far my favorite.
I love, love my 8" chef's knife, and use it for nearly everything. I did so much chopping with it before Rosh Hashana that I almost gave myself a blister. It's from a set that my FIL got me from Macy's The Cellar.
I bought myself an 8" chef's knife from Wusthof for Passover use (greatly reduced at Tuesday Morning). Mmmmmmm. It's like "butta".
I have a great Henckel's eight inch chef's knife that I just love
My Global Santoku knife - super sharp! I use it for everything.
my brazilian forged 8" chef's knife. it's really the only one i need.
I love short, serrated blade knives. They can be useful with rolls or baguettes, but are also very helpful when it comes to slicing tomatoes.
oh... I need a good knife set!! Tabitha @ http://www.fromsingletomarried.com
Of course the chef's knife. In my opinion there really isn't a need for anything else...
I actually don't own a knife that I'm particularly fond of, but I've been drooling over MAC knives, like the one Eric Ripert's been using in his aveceric.com videos!
I don't have a knife that I love, but I definitely seem to use a basic serrated bread knife the most.
a serrated knife, best for tomatoes
My favorite is a good paring knife, for cutting up fruit.
the sharpest wusthof 8 inch chef
I have this old curved blade paring knife that my mom passed down to me... and I *love* it for slicing fruit and such!
my ken onion chef's knife. i splurged on it a few months ago and absolutely adore it. i use it for everything : not only is it the best knife i own, it takes the place of several other not-so-awesome "niche" knives.
This would be perfect in my kitchen and would free up some drawer space! My chefs knife is definitely the most used and essential thing in my kitchen.
My favorite knife is a carbon steel chef's knife. I was afraid of it when I bought but now I can't live without it.
My favorite knife is the small chef's knife. It is the right size for my hand and can cut just about anything I need it to.
My favorite knife is my Santoku knife. I bought one for my mom for her birthday and loved it so much that I went out and bought another for me.
have a great set of several standard wustoff knives, but while i thought the tomato knife was a frivolous acquisition and would have limited utility - it has surprised me with its versatility
I love my slightly-too-large-for-my-hand super sharp chef knife.
my favorite knife is whichever one's sharpest. I guess I could use an upgrade.
Definitely my JA Henckels chef's knife. Sturdy, handsome and just the right size for most cutting tasks.
My favorite knife is my Santoku. All of my other knives are steak knives. Please pick me, I definitely need more knives.
My 8" chef's knife
I use it for everything
All purpose cutting.
Chef's knife
My fav is a small paring knife I bought at a thrift store. It's got someone's initials on the handle. I make up wild stories about the previous owner when I use it.
steak knife
perfect to furnish my new apt! i am a big fan of my giant chinese cleaver
I've been hanging my knives on a magnetic strip since I saw someone else do it 10+ years ago, but the plastic guard on this looks very smart.
My favorite knife is my Wustof classic ikon 6" chef's knife. Although it's a little on the small side for a chef's knife, I'm fairly petite at 5'1", and I find that it fits my hand well. Also, it's beautiful! Clean cut, full tang, and of course, it slices through things like butter. It's well balanced, and has a good weight to it which helps it slice and dice. Finally, it was my first big purchase after working through my Christmas break at Williams Sonoma. I'd highly recommend it :)
great space saver. wonderful.
Global stainless steel 8 inch chef's knife. Oooh, and the ceramic paring knives from Williams-Sonoma are quite nice, too.
I'm a big fan of my 5" santoku, which saves my poor eyes from the torment of cutting onions.
My 8" chef's knife...after --let's see, is it 25 years already?--it's still sharpenable and fabulous. It would look great in this magnetic holder, which I especially love because the knives aren't out in the open--the plexiglas cover is a *great* addition.
I love a good paring knife.
I love love love my little Henkel's paring knife. I use it for EVERYTHING...which is probably not the best, as a chef's knife would work better for many jobs, but well, I don't.
I have a wonderful Wusthof 8" Cook's Knife. Use it for almost everything!
I have a Wusthof paring knife that I use a lot, mainly because it's the sharpest one in the house.
This is fantastic--especially since we only ever use three knives! The perfect fit for an apartment kitchen.
first: my kitchen is lacking a bunch of equipment- namely a knifeholder, a knifesharpener...but! i have a little handy oxo knife that i use all the time. to cut fruit, cheese. it fits in the palm of my hand and has a nice no slip grip...maybe if i had to look at my knives all the time, in all their un-amazing dullness, i'd take the plunge and get a knife sharpener??
My favorite knife is my Wusthof chef's knife. It's amazing - does everything that I need it to do in the kitchen (except take out the trash - I wish)!
The Santoku knife that I have to hide every time my mom comes to visit. It's not what you think; I kind of knifenapped it from her house a few years ago because I fell in love with it. I suppose it I won the knife rack, it'd out my stolen knife, wouldn't it? I'm willing to risk it!
I love my global chef's knife. Its hefty enough to feel sure, the handle is sleek and modern, and overall, it is sexy as hell.
Chef's knife because I don't own one!
My 8 inch chef's knife
I'm embarassed to say that my favorite knife would be any good new one, as I'm using old, dull, mismatches ones leftover from years with roommates but getting the replacement knife set hasn't been top priority (financially-speaking) in my new coop. This would be a great win!
My favorite knife is my wusthof santoku because it's the most versatile knife I own. I use it on everything from bread to tomatoes.
wustof santoku 8"--use it for almost everything, though I really want a global one...
6 1/2" chef's knife - very versitile size! I hardly ever use another knife...
I love my butcher knife and use it all the time. I have a decent selection of knives since I have a lot of friends that are chefs. After they saw what I was working with originally, they started slowly replacing the ones in my drawer.
Going to have to go with the majority on this one...8" chef's knife for me...
my small and mighty paring knife
My 6 1/2" Santoku. I use it every day
My Santoku knife is by far my favorite. I use it for almost everything.
8" German chef's knife-- it can do everything... except pare vegetables efficiently
All I need are a trusty chef knife and bread knife.
My favorite knife is a sharp one. There's nothing worse than a dull knife.
This is gonna sound silly but the butter knife. I seem to use it far more than any other knife. :)
My Henckels 8" chef's knife. I find it works fine for whatever I am cutting.
My ikea knife is my favorite one...
I'd love a knife rack. Anything to get more counter space.
Sleek and modern, I like it.
my chicago cutlery santoku.
seriously the only knife i could ever need. it's wonderful.
My favorite knife is old and has seen a lot of use. It was one of the few things my parents brought with them from Europe after they survived the Holocaust. I have lots of childhood memories of my father using it to cut brisket.
I loved my 8" Henckels Chef knife until i received a 6 1/2" Santoku, which stole my heart. The smaller size means I have more control and precision for diceing, etc.
I eat butter on everything! Without further thinking, THE butter knife!
8" Henckels which I dropped on concrete and snapped off the tip; I kept it for 10 years until my brother ground it down and reshaped it, it's not as good for mincing as before, but the steel is so much better than the 'identica'l 8" henckels I bought years later to replace it.
A paring knife...because i don't have one yet :(
tomato knife
My favorite knife is my big serated knife from ikea because I can use it on everything from meat to tomatoes.
I love all three of my knives - chef's knife, serrated knife, and paring knife.
my chef's knife
My favorite knife is the Anolon Brunello collection 7" Santoku knife. It cuts perfectly, the weight is perfectly balanced, and the handle is made of beautiful wood (my original reason for buying it). It also helps that I got it on clearance!
My favorite knife is the one my husband, who I thought never listens to me, very thoughtfully bought me after I happened to mention it about 8 months prior - a Kasumi 6" utility knife. Sharp as all get out, the workhorse in my kitchen. I now rarely use anything else and it makes me smile when I think of how I came to own it :)
I love my 10" Wusthof Chef's knife.
I love my "Rachel Ray knife" and my paring knife.
my hand me down steak knives (don't know the brand) still work great for me.
My Henckels 4-star 8-inch Chef's knife.
I love this little paring knife I found at a thrift store. It says "Laguiole Inox France." It fits my hand like it was made for it, and the handle is bright yellow, which brightens up the kitchen.
Most certainly my Santoku. I actually feel bad for all of the other wonderful knives since this one gets all of the action!!
My favorite knife is the pocket knife I snagged when my grandfather died. He carried in WW2 and it was always in his pocket. I know -- not a kitchen knife! But beloved all the same.
My santoku knife is amazing. I picked it up at a TJ Maxx.
My chef's knife. I use it for almost everything.
