I'd be thrilled to get the book, as my oven's just been fixed, and I don't have any plans to get to N. California in the next year.
Thanks!
That looks great! I'd love to win one.
I have read every Chez Panisse related book and ADORE figs (and all things Tanis)...which is why this book would be well loved in my tiny apartment kitchen.
who wouldnt want a copy of this book? I saw David "perform" at new langton arts and I'm smitten.
I have recently been inspired to bake and cook a little more simply and elegantly. The book looks like it would be a wondeful inspiration.
Good luck to everyone!
always room for another cookbook.
looks wonderful!! =]
This book looks beautiful and speaks to my style of cooking - simple, seasonal and elegant.
This looks like such a great book to work my way through this fall and winter.
My boyfriend and I love to cook, we have taken a couple courses. I've noticed he becomes a bit overwhelmed with the measurements and the "fanciness" of the recipes we've been presented. We've hardly ever recreated anything we've cooked in class.
I believe this book would be a wonderful addition, because, telling by the sample recipe on your other post, it seems like the whole book involves familiar ingredients and easy to follow instructions that may guarantee more cooking and since its organized by menus it gives me the perfect excuse to host more dinner parties.
I would like a copy of this book because I like to look at food porn with my boyfriend (and then cook the recipes with him!).
I would like the book because I'd like to prepare more seasonal meals (and menus)!
There's nothing better than using seasonal ingredients at the peak of their time and Tanis really gets this. Simplicity done right can outshine elaborateness in my book anyday. I think this would be a great addition to my bookshelf and one I can learn a lot from. Plus the figs on the cover are mouth watering!
The book looks great, and the waiting list for it at my library is long - I'd love a copy!
we love figs!
My partner and I are fig thieves. We have good friends with a fig grove that they don't have much interest in. Every August we head down to the grove and pick as many as we can, leaving some for the bears of course, and then spend the next week giving them away and eating nothing but figs.
I associate our fig situation with my own food awakening. That awakening was informed by Chez Panisse and slowly evolved into our own quirky system for local/seasonal eating in the Pacific Northwest. Therefore, I really, really look forward to reading this book.
Thanks for the opportunity.
I love figs, and am always looking for new ways to cook them!
this is my kind of cookbook!
Besides my undying love of figs (seriously, I can't get enough!), I think this is a beautiful book. I don't own many cookbooks, but I'm dying for a copy of this one. The ideas about food, flavor combinations and recipes really excite me. This is exactly the kind of food I love to make. Not to sound over-eager or anything...
I want this book because I do judge books by their covers and this one is gorgeous!!!
This book sounds wonderful and I've already read numerous glowing reviews of it. I'd love to buy it for myself, but I'm unemployed - funny enough (not really), in the food field.
this just looks... luscious :)
I'm a fan of the Chez Panisse people, but I don't own a single one of their cookbooks. I'd like to change that this Thursday :)
Sounds lovely - perfect for chilly winter weekends.
This book is right in line with my cooking philosophy: take really good local, un-messed-with ingredients, and treat them as simply as possible. Can't wait to try Tanis's recipes!
I have figs all lined up for dinner tonight! Roasted with peppered honey and goat cheese, I think. I'd love more ways to serve them!
the perfect addition to my small but growing cookbook collection.
AND i'm a "the kitchn" newbie. always got the emails, but discovered the amazing posts and promptly added it to my rss feeds today!
I'm in need of some new cooking inspiration!
I love simple, seasonal dishes and I think this cookbook could easily stay on the top of the pile. I mean... the organized and efficient stack of cookbooks that are in no way bothering my boyfriend by taking up too much room on the kitchen counter.
Beautiful. I love my cookbook collection and this would be an excellent addition. I only cook simple meals with in season ingredients.
Sounds like a fantastic book
Because it's beautiful and some of my favorite reading is cookbooks.
We have a fig tree in the backyard and need more delicious receipes!!!
This is such a beautiful book. I'd love to try to recreate the recipes then take pictures and upload them for all to see.
Yum
Nothing like a good looking cookbook
I would love to be able to curl up with a cup of coffee, browse through the recipes, and pick out a few recipes to create an elegant dinner party for some of my friends. What a nice way to enjoy some beautiful fall weather!
I am planning a fall dinner party right now. This book looks like it would be the perfect inspiration! (jbarnett)
This book seems to capture the zeitgeist of the culinary world right now.
yarrr, tis yummy!
I've had to talk myself down from ordering it several times already since David Lebovitz posted about it on his blog. It looks fantastic.
If the book is good enough for Michael Pollan, it's good enough for me.
That fish soup looks AMAZING, and I can't resist any cookbook with photos...
I love good food, especially the kind I cook myself, and a great book with beatiful photos is always a treat!
Sounds delish. David just talked about this book too which got me quite intrigued.
David Lebovitz just mentioned this book on his site. I added it to my wishlist immediately. It looks wonderful.
Fig novice here so the book would be really helpful.
Oh! My mom and I have been trading fig recipes back and forth all summer! I'd love to be able to give her this book.
Lovely book!
We've rediscovered the farmer's market, so I'm on the lookout for more seasonal recipes... and this book looks just gorgeous!

Would love to add this book to my collection.
I love figs.
I can always use another cookbook!
Yes please!
i want it so I can make something delicious
Hooray for cookbooks! Hooray for delicious recipes!
Any cookbook with a foreward by Alice Waters is most likely worth my reading! Also I love the idea of menus as I'm always looking for what dishes pair well together in a meal.
i love chez panisse and this cookbook seems right up my alley!
Yummmm... love figs, love chez panisse, seems right up my alley.
Fig season has become my favorite time of year! I've also been cooking more seasonally this past year, and this cookbook looks helpful.
The book would serve as an inspiration for more than just my cooking-I've decided last week while perusing the bookstore that the color pallet on the front are the perfect colors for having in my bedroom.
There is nothing better than a basket of raw figs. mMMm...
I'm just mastering my basics cookbook, and it's time for a more indulgent one! And figs! Who can resist them?
<3 figs! And I am a shameless collector of cookbooks. Nothing like spending a Saturday afternoon perusing the glossy pages. :)
I've also fallen prey to the power of David Lebovitz's suggestion... and now I think that I just MUST have this cookbook. The man laces his blog with crack.
I'm trying to become more of a locavore and Chez Panisse pioneered eating from local sources. Plus that cover is so tasty!
I'm always on the lookout for simple delicious recipes. Plus, I really would like to figure out how to better incorporate seasonal & local ingredients into my diet.
To be honest, though, I'd just like to find the next great recipe to serve when my mother is over to show up her cooking skills. *grumble*
Please help me deal with our fig tree abundance! We're buried in figs and after eating them fresh from the tree, baking them with goat cheese, roasting them with bacon, off-loading them at our neighbors, I'm at a loss what to do with the bounty. Not that I'm complaining... the figs are big, fat, plump, dark blue and deeeelicious.
I read about this on David Lebovitz's blog and was sold - anything the master says is worth having is certainly worth having!
I'm so inspired by great photography in cookbooks... and from the look of the cover, this book will be full of inspiration.
I'm a poor post graduate and I need a beautiful new book of recipes to work through!
Looks like a great book! I'd love to win!
I'm in love with figs.
I was looking through the book at the bookstore the other day and fell in love. Rarely can I look through a cookbook and want to make every single recipe. Yum!
I must admit I'm a fig virgin, having never cooked with them before. However, I'd love to to change that and I couldn't think of a better way!
I love figs but have never cooked with them
ooh i have never made figs before but this cookbook is gorgeous...
ooh, pick me. this looks lovely. and i made figs for the first time last year!
I need to convince my Husband that figs are great! Pick me!
I'm a fig fanatic!
I've been to Chez Panisse a few times and always very apprecite how nice the food is prepared. Simple but nice home cook book is what I'm looking for and I believe this is the one.
This looks like a beautiful book, and I love simple (non)recipes. They comprise the vast majority of what I eat.
This cookbook looks perfect for simple, elegant meals throughout the year.
The book looks great. I would love to win a copy!
I would like a copy of this book b/c I miss Berkeley CA tremendously. We (my husband and I) lived there for for 4 years and we have never eaten as well since. I would love to be able to recreate some of that through the recipes in this book. Thanks so much!
I read the review and this looks like an awesome book. I'd like to give some of the recipes a try!
i heart figs.
I've been reading about this book and it sounds so perfect. We do tons of entertaining in our tiny apartment, and it's sometimes overwhelming to plan a menu...
I've read nothing but glowing reviews, and I've been making an effort to eat locally and seasonally, so it sounds like the perfect fit. The gorgeous photos don't hurt, either.
oooh, the cover on this book is SO lovely -- I am obsessed with figs since moving to Northern California. Plus, I haven't ever gotten to eat at Chez Panisse -- at least with this book in my kitchen, I can pretend a little :-)
Yum, I love the taste of figs, but haven't given much thought about how to use them in different dishes, would love the book!
What a beautiful cover... I am sooo addicted to food porn.
I'm ready to look at beautiful photos of food and make some myself.
I would love to have this book, not only because I heart figs, but also because the idea of "menus" is really appealing! Someone with that much experience must know what they are doing!
I've recently begun cooking for myself, and this book would be both an inspiration to keep trying new things and a great reward!
The very best dessert I've ever had was a plate of perfectly-chosen figs at Chez Panisse. Fresh ingredients in season really do make all the difference.
The combination of his simplicity and Pollan's recommendation makes me interested to have this book.
My grandma has a fig tree in her backyard (in Pittsburgh), and growing up, I was always sort of mesmerized by it. You don't come across them that often! Fond memories of trying my first fig ever (besides fig newtons!), plucked straight from her tree. I would take this cookbook to her house next time I'm there and see if have enough figs for a recipe or two...
I am interested in cooking more meals with "different" foods for my 2 year old whose favorite treat is cooked filo with feta and carmelized onions.
Plus my house is on the market and has been for months and I had to pack everything away to declutter which included all of my cookbooks.
Gourmet named this the cookbook of the month for their club. How could they be wrong? (she said facetiously...)
I've been eyeing this masterpiece for a while but am to broke to buy it right now!
After a summer of salads and bread I'm ready to face the stove and oven again!
about a month ago my husband and i went to Vermont for a weekend getaway. we dined at an authentic Italian restaurant where I tried this AMAZING chicken with figs and gorgonzola. i've tried figs before, but never cooked. that meal opened a whole new world of food for me :) ever since I've been hunting for recipes where figs are one of the main ingredients.
This book would be an awesome addition to my collection.
Because I'm a cookbook junkie and I NEED it! :)

Tanis and Chez Panisse are legendary plus, I love the concept of simple, seasonal menus using fresh ingredients.
I love the idea of creating simple, clean, seasonal dishes. I've been lax in that department lately. This book would definitely be an inspiration. FIGS!!
Gorgeous and inspiring- I'd love to pore over this book and use it to fuel some great dinner parties...
I just moved to the bay area from Philadelphia and am discovering the wonderful produce at farmer's markets. I am so inspired by the people I've met at the local garden center where I volunteer. These women tirelessly try new recipes with seasonal produce and kindly even invited me to a simple, elegant lunch. I would love to be able to cook something special for them!

figs are my favorite fruit!

I'm intrigued to prepare a 'masterpiece' from Chez Panisse and would love to win this.
Anything that has in any way been touched by or influenced by either Alice Waters or Chez Panisse is at the top of my "must have " list. Alice Waters is my guru, and you know that if she had Danid Tanis on her payroll at one point, then you KNOW that he must be immensely talented. She is very exacting, and if he impressed her, then you just know that he must be the cream of the crop (pun intended).
