Wild-foraged ginger, home-made ricotta, a 700 lb. pasture-raised steer? If this sounds enticing, then head over to the New Market Building at the South Street Seaport, where the non-profit New Amsterdam Public
is hosting WINTERMARKET
...a one-day event to test New Amsterdam Public's
idea for a permanent indoor public food market selling all sustainable
and regional (within 500 miles of NYC) ingredients.
All ingredients are available for purchase. In addition, chefs will be cooking up simple seasonal dishes and doling out free samples along with the secrets to their dish's success. Even Mario Batali is making porchetta sandwiches for the occasion!
Event runs 11am-4pm this Sunday, December 16th.
