What wines have you been drinking? Of course, when it comes to wine, most of us choose our "favorites" in the moment; depending on what we're eating, how the weather is, etc. Others are not familiar with every variety of wine, and tend toward certain "safety" wines.
Whether a beginner in the world of wine exploration, or a seasoned expert, most of us have a feeling for our basic preferences. Tell us yours...

I had an amazing Nero d'Avola at DOC Wine Bar in Williamsburg a few months back, and since then, I've tried as many Neros as I can. Another recent discovery is the Simon Hackett Old Vine Grenache, which I got at Vine Wine in Long Island City. Highly recommended, particularly with salty meats and cheeses.
I love Granache too, it is such an under appreciated wine and particularly fabulous for chilly winter nights.
When I want to splurge, I love a bottle of Miss Harry Granache from australia..... but I have found some great Grachas from Spain recently as well for much lower prices.
i used to be a big, bold, fruit forward kind of gal, but recently, my tastes took a serious turn
an article in some food mag was extolling the virtues of non-nouveau beaujolais' especially those from the 2003 vintage
after my first sip, i was HOOKED on french wine again
i had been a purely new world wine gal for so long, that the earthier, more rustic wines from languedoc, the beaujolais regions, bordeaux and the rhone regions taste entirely fresh to me again
i am just loving it!
Current favorite: Dynamite Vineyards Merlot (wish it didn't sound like it has a screw top), Dry Creek Zin & the Meritage on occasion (if I could get naked and fit into a bottle of that, well...)
Our selection is so limited here due to our state-run liquor monopoly. (MS)
Has anybody seen a super Tuscan: ISOLE e OLENA Cepparello 2001 or later? If so, please let me know where. THANKS
Syd,
We're loving the Dry Creek Zin too! Just had a bottle last weekend. Sorry about your liquor monopoly issue - next time we're down in Mississippi, we'll bring you a few bottles.
Luigil: you can find the Isole e Olena at Union Square Wines and Spirits, they even have the 2001 vintage. Main Street Wines and Spirits in Nyack also has it, perhaps they could ship it to you. This is a wonderful bottle of wine, good luck on your hunt.
Jenny- thanks for the heads up. I'll be heading down USW to stock up!

Be still my heart...
The weirdest thing happened to me. I recently was lazy and decided to take the wine store's suggestion of this Ramsay Pinot Noir, even though I usually avoid California wines. Well, I ADORED it. I looked it up on the web and odddly enough it was made from Carneros grapes (though it didn't specify that on the bottle), just like the one other red I love, the Sinskey Carneros Pinot Noir. That really weirded me out, that specificity in taste to one small place.
Los Carneros, I love you.
