Wine, like food has a mood, one that often matches the weight of the day. With fall sneaking upon us, what mood are you in right now? Do you drink the same varietals throughout the year or do you like to mix it up?
Take our wine survey after the jump.
Given the climate here, I'll be drinking whites for at least another month, possibly until the Beaujolais Nouveau is released in mid-November. September calls for heavier whites than July, though.

I am officially hooked on Sauternes wine from France (not to be confused with the cheaper American version called Sauterne).
Its a white dessert wine made from grapes that have partially raisened. Its very fragrant and tastes delicious!
Too bad its too expensive for me to consume more often.

How 'bout all of the above? Honestly, in the right mood, right meal, I will drink anything! It changes from day to day. My fallback is a cheap Gavi, the Castlevero Cortese.

The wine I crave constantly is pure Cab Franc. It's got such an unusual nose that varies so much with where it's grown. The wines from the Finger Lakes smell like jalapenos, the ones from Cali are more elegant and refined, while the French ones are dirty, in a very good way.
I love it pure, but it's also great as a mixing wine and I can smell it in almost any wine it's blended with. I'm always shocking people by saying "this has cab franc in it!" and the sommelier will be like, "but only 4%!" for some reason, my nose looooves it!

Syrah is my seasonal favorite right now.

I am hooked up with an organic wine shop near my apartment.
I am having a good French red wine in a box(3L) as my daily wine and buy other wines for special occasion.
My current favorite is chaos.

all time fav is no doubt Sicilian Nero D'Avola.
If dining on fish i do really enjoy Vermentino (Sicily again!), or from the Campania region Greco di Tufo or the LOVELY Falanghina.
I have been known though to drink wine from a carton in moments of sheer desperation (aka, nothing else to drink in the house apart from cooking wine!!!)
