Wine: A Postcard From Greece

2009_07_09-Greece.jpgGreek wines have long been on my list of favorite wines. They are extremely refreshing and food friendly. At the moment I am traveling through the Greek wine regions of the Peloponnese before heading to Santorini. On my return I will be posting the many highlights from my visits to the exciting wineries of the region, the unique indigenous grape varieties, the amazing wines, and how well they pair with so many different dishes. Meanwhile, check out my short post on Greek wines from last year!

Mmmm... I love Greek wines. I put it on my 10 Things I Love About Greece list! Tip: order the house white wine when in Greece... it's bound to be amazing.

I could not agree less. My husband and I love wine. On our recent trip to Greece we drank nothing but Champagne as we could find no wine to our liking at any price point. We did have dinner at one restaurant in Athens that offered a few Italian wines and enjoyed them. When we returned home from our trip we gave a bottle of French wine to our Greek girlfriend that helped us plan the trip. We asked her about the wine of her country. She stated that she never drinks it as it is not very good.
