Three New iPhone Apps For the Home Cook

2009_10_15-iPhoneApps.jpgI found three new iPhone/iPod apps that I thought home cooks might find useful! From a bar code scanner that counts your calories for you, to a time management tool that organizes your meal planning tasks, you're sure to find these apps interesting.

FoodScanner - scan UPC labels on food packages using your iPhone's camera, and this app will find foods and track the amount of calories you have eaten. An useful way to keep daily nutrition counters without having to type in every little detail.

Groceries - a shopping list that can be shared via email. Adding new items is easy and fast, and you can create multiple lists.

Mise en Place - helps you plan meals in advance by telling you what to do when. This could be a very useful app for Thanksgiving menus that require some dishes to be prepared ahead of time. This app breaks dishes up in tasks and shows you which prep tasks you should do, and when.

I use www.myshopperapp.com and it's great! You can arrange your list by aisle and check the items off as you go along. I will have to check this one out too- thanks!

Anyone know of an app that will let me keep track of grocery prices at several stores?

I have been using the Groceries app for about 6 weeks now and I really like it. I think it's well worth the 99cents.
