Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut is an excellent excuse, if ever there was one, to blow fifty bucks on a bottle of Champagne.

Made from one hundered percent Pinot Noir grapes which will make it a bigger style of Champagne with more body and spicier flavors than one coming from simply Chardonnay or Pinot Munier. It can be treated more like a light-bodied red wine and will pair well with many different foods, it's more than just a starter wine. A Frisée and Lardon salad would be a wonderful match, if one is in the mood for a lighter dinner, but this Champagne is also complex and hearty enough to pair with something heavier like an Italian Sausage and Mushroom Risotto.

If the taste isn't enough to move you, Laurent-Perrier's history might. It is a dreamy, romantic saga of a widowed mother who, during World War II, stashed more than 100,000 bottles behind a fake wall. (If this sort of wine history interests you, you might want to pick up a copy of Wine and War by Don and Petie Kladstrup.)

Garnet Wines (929 Lexington Avenue @ 68th Street) has it on sale for $51/bottle (it usually retails for about $60.) In midtown, try Morrell Wine (One Rockefeller Plaza) who carry it for $59, and downtowners can swing by Astor Wines (12 Astor Place @ Lafayette) and pick up a bottle for $56.99.
