Vino: 2005 St. Supéry Sauvignon Blanc

2001_01_26_St.Supery.jpgName: 2004 St. Supéry Sauvignon Blanc
Grape: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Region: Napa Valley
Price: $11.99 to $14.99

Orange Blossom, honeysuckle, grapefruit & lime, the incredible aromatics of this wine immediately took me away, to spring, to California, to a blooming flower garden on a sunny day. The smell of this wine so unusual and brilliant; it stayed with me days.

Winemaker Michael Beaulac employs a unique vine training technique to help achieve this delicate, yet powerful perfume. They also harvest all of their grapes at night or in the very early morning, when the fruit is at it’s coolest, in a gentle effort to preserve the fruit.

The wine tasted good too, very good. Bright and clean with crisp acidity. Fermented entirely in Stainless steel tanks, this is a perfect representation of Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc done right.

St. Supéry is an independent, family-owned winery that moved into the Napa Valley in 1973. The Sauvignon Blanc is grown in their estate vineyard, the Dollarhide Ranch, which is located on 1500 acres of rolling hills, oak-covered knolls and seven lakes.

A perfect wine to start for your first course or to pair with light seafoods or cheeses. Ideal for sitting in the garden on a hot summer's day, or escaping winter in your mind.

Stores: Astor Wines & Spirits $11.99 (399 Lafayette @ 4th St.), America's Wine Shop $14.99(398 3rd Avenue @ 27th St.), PJ Wine $11.99 (4898 Broadway between 204th and 207th Streets)

Mmmm, I love St. Supéry wines; I've tasted there every time I'm in Napa, and you're right: the Blanc is wonderful. Also good from them are their Cabernet and Moscato.

Hi Lisa,

Ask your Brooklyn wine shops to update their websites more frequently. I would LOVE to be able to include them more often.

Thanks!
