Vino: 2004 Domaine du Tremblay Quincy

2006.22.04.Quincy.jpgName:Domaine Tremblay Quincy
Grape: Sauvignon Blanc
Region: Loire Valley, France
Price: $11.99 to $16.99

The first hint of spring brings me straight back to white wine. My taste buds are weary of heavy red wine and rich foods, I want pea shoots and zippy flavors to match the budding trees, regardless of the frigid temperatures outside.

Quincy is a favorite white for warmer days. Light, refreshing and alive, this wine pairs well with nearly everything and is always a crowd pleaser. Quincy is a very small region in the Loire Valley of France whose best wines are Sauvignon Blanc. The 2004 Domaine du Tremblay Quincy is a classic expression of Loire Valley Sauvignon blanc; which are thought to be some of the best in the world. Old world in style, these wines are not manipulated in any way, rather they are just a vibrant, graceful expression of the dynamic relationship between soil and grape. Bright with citrus and mineral flavors, this crisp white wine should be elegant and interesting without overwhelming your meal.

Stores: Astor Wines & Spirits (339 Lafayette at 4th) $11.99 and Shawn Wines (141 7th Ave, between Carroll and Garfield, Brooklyn) $16.99
