Video Review: Coca Cola BlaK

(While in Paris, Maxwell was lured in by the aggressive advertising campaign for Coke's new product, Coca-Cola BlaK, a fusion of coke and coffee. When we finally hit the Bon March Grand Epicerie, he snatched up a bottle as I browsed the aisles of foreign vinegars and full-fat yogurts. When we got home, he made this little video as he reviewed the product. Welcome to videos at The Kitchen!)

Why didn't I suggest to coke to do this . I should have patented the idea.

I have been drinking coke + cold coffee since 1990's. good for late night studying. It picks you up.

We had one in Paris a few weeks ago. It was...interesting... it kind of changes the more you drink it. It's harsh, sweet, coke, no coffee, we couldn't really put our finger on it or describe it very well...

Couple of things. I worked for Coca-Cola for about 6 years and I can tell you that you might want to try the U.S. version as well. Coke uses different ingredients and alters the taste of the same beverages to fit local tastes. (which is why this was launched originally in Europe before the U.S.)

If you like the idea, Nancy Borgnine had created a coffee cola beverage years and years ago called Borgnine's Coffee Soda which is far cleaner and more refreshing! Not certain if it's still available . . .

I agree with Alex E. there, although I've never worked at Coca-Cola so I'm no expert - but my taste buds always told me that beverages in Europe taste a lot different that here in the US. When I go to Germany, I also enjoy the "cola light" (our version is called diet coke). cola light has more pep - more sparkle, and tastes a lot more refreshing even though it's the 'same' product.

I wonder if Blak is the same way...

It may be simply because French coffee sometimes has a burned taste. At one time, I thought French coffee was the peak experience; however, it's Italian coffee that is da bomb. Also the coasts have great coffee and so does Latin America.

They are handing these out for free, a marketing campaign, on Times Square now. Monday, April 10, at noon.

Coke Blak is quite bad. Strong coffee/aspartame aftertaste. Nauseating scent. No thanks.

I like Coca-Cola Blak. It is tasty, it's like Coca-Cola with a little coffee. It kind of tastes a little like Coca-Cola and vanilla to me.

Coke Blak - Love this product but poor marketing in US. Has anyone noticed that this is hard to find in stores? I made my own commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOSa-kgk8HE perhaps that will persuade you to try it. May take several bottles before you really appreciate the taste. Also, if you don't like coffee you won't like Coke Blak.
