We've been meaning to tell you about the winner of the Bloggies (it wasn't us) for a while now.
Vegan Lunchbox was started last September by Jennifer McMann, a vegan stay-at-home mom of a child named Schmoo (seriously) in Kenniwick, Washington. It is a day-by-day chronicle of the vegan lunches that she makes for her Schmoo, often with Schmoo's feedback. Although there are not many recipes of her own, she does link to recipes and vegan products for those interested in delectables like "veggie ham roll-ups filled with homemade tofu-cashew creme cheeze".
So congratulations, Jennifer! Perhaps some of our vegan readers are also readers of yours, and if not, we're sending them your way right now. But don't worry... since we're fresh off our culinary whirlwind tour of Paris, there is certainly no danger of us pressing into your territory. Although, that's not to say we won't try to win next year.

OOOh!! I'm a regular reader of Vegan Lunchbox, even though I'm no longer vegan, nor do I have the need for a lunchbox of any sort. Something about it though, perhaps the utilitarian photos of the meals or the very voyeuristic tendencies I harbor towards the mundane, keeps me going back for seconds...or thirds...
though this is only the first time i've heard of (and checked out!) that blog, i have to disagree about the name thing. i don't think his name is actually shmoo. i'm a biologist, and i think she might be familiar with the field too, based on her usage of the word shmoo. a shmoo is a bud that a yeast cell makes when it reproduces--a tiny new yeast cell! or, in her case, a tiny new vegan!
I have been looking for a lunch box for the longest time. I am so sick of eating AuBonPaxCosi crap here in midtown. Does anyone have this Laptop Lunch box? It seems cool, but maybe a little too kid like or small for us? It also doesn't have lids for some of the compartments.
i've been reading vegan lunch box pretty regularly, after seeing it in the bloggie ballot. i'm also obsessed with bentos, and after doing a bit of research, i finally purchased a mr bento.

so far i'm VERY pleased with it. it's very good for keeping things warm/cool and all of the little bowls have lids. it looks like a large thermos, kinda spacey and dorky, but in a good way.
Her son's name isn't really Schmoo. I can't remember what it is, but I feel pretty sure she did mention it once in an entry.
Anyway, the blog is awesome, and vegan or not, it provides a lot of great ideas for people who have to pack meals to go.
