For anyone with an interest in cooking, a trip to the Paris brocantes -- roving antique fairs that set up shop around Paris in every season but summer -- is a lesson in kitchen nostalgia. From vintage kitchen canisters and coffee mills to 19th-century locked crystal sugar boxes used to store the then-precious sweet stuff, there's always something fascinating to discover. Here are kitchen-related highlights from the latest bi-annual Salon Antiquites Brocante at the Place de la Bastille, which runs through May 18.
Paris Flea Market Kitchen Finds
Vintage figurines and salt or mustard containers celebrate the chef.
In the age of the instant espresso maker, colorful vintage cafetières are used now as decoration or vases.
Old coffee mills are decorative, but those in good condition can sometimes still be used.
Vintage hanging salt containers are another common brocante find.
