Reader Tip: Organize Your Fridge with Six-Packs

2009_01_26-Fridge.jpgLook at this great tip from reader Lisa, who found a good way to corral the condiment bottles in her fridge. Her solution is easy, free, and it even recycles.

Lisa writes a blog called Condo Blues; it's about living on a budget, with a green and sustainable twist.

Here's what she says about her fridge solution:

Unfortunately, all of those small bottles on the refrigerator door shelves liked to tip over after I opened or closed the door. They often looked like a load of passed out people at some shipboard party gone horribly wrong. Especially the brands of hot sauce whose bottles look little people. Clearly, an intervention was in order.

Fortunately, the answer to tidying those wayward bottles was a recycling bin away. I used an empty paper six pack holder to hold and organize the condiments on my refrigerator door.

That's an excellent idea for those of us who can't seem to stop with the condiment-collecting; our problem is that we just have too many ethnicities represented in our refrigerator. Every food culture seems to have its own set of condiments! Sriracha chili garlic sauce for Thai and Vietnamese food, Indian lime pickle, Mexican hot sauce, Chinese soy sauce... the list goes on and on. They do tend to bobble and tip, and a six pack might be a good solution.

Visit Lisa's blog to read more about her green and sustainable ideas, and tell us: do you reuse six-packs anywhere in your kitchen?

I live in a tiny dormroom and don't have any extra drawers to keep my utensils in. So I use an empty 6 pack to keep all my forks, knives, spoons, can openers, veggie peelers, etc organized.
