Thursday Giveaway: SideSwipe Spatula Mixer Blades

2008_01_17-SideSwipe.jpg

Gift: Two SideSwipe Mixer Blades for KitchenAid Tilt Head Mixers
Shop: Available from SideSwipe for $24.95

Remember these SideSwipe Spatula Mixer Blades? They made a big stir when we first posted them. Scraping down the bowl is the only thing we dislike about our KitchenAid. Last time we made a cake we discovered half the butter and sugar lurking in the bottom when we were pouring batter into the pans.

This rather brilliant product adds silicone fins to help mix everything extra-well. It's currently ONLY available for tilt-head KitchenAid models, so you will need to own one (or know someone who does!) to make use of this. We're giving away two today. To enter our Thursday Giveaway, click through...

To be eligible to win one of these mixer spatula blades, please tell us in the comments here about your favorite mixer use. Bread? Cakes? Cookies? Ice cream? What does your KitchenAid mixer help you the most with? For us, it's yeast bread - hands down. We love our dough hook!

The winners will be asked to submit a review of the SideSwipe spatula paddle within two weeks of receiving their gift. We'll post their review and thoughts here.

To enter the giveaway, type a comment in the comment section below by 8:59pm PT/11:59 EST Sunday, January 20, 2008. The winner(s) will be selected at random.

My kitchenaid dough hook comes in handy when I try to get my husband to actually DO something in the kitchen! He's learned to make pizza dough so it's ready when I get home. But if there weren't a dough hook involved, it would NEVER happen!

(and as an aside, I picked up the Williams-Sonoma mini-bowl that makes the 6quart work as a 4quart. It's remarkable.)

As a kid growing up, one of my FAVORITES was a german dish that my grandparents brought over from Germany called cheesebuttons...(I have no idea what the german name is!) By hand, these take nearly all day to make with a few people. With my mixer, I am able to make the dough, and then use the pasta roller attachment to roll it out in nice sheets for the pockets! It saves me hours!

My recent favorite to make with our red KitchenAid mixer is homemade marshmallows. You really get to take advantage of the whole range of speed, beating the gelatin and sugar syrup into fluffy white delicious goodness. They were quite a hit during the holidays (with both mini, regular, and Red Hot glazed versions), and I'm planning on making a batch of Rice Krispy treats very soon. I am quite curious to know how this unique attachment would affect the marshmallow - the more air the better, right?

"My Little Angel Of Love"

I gave life to a precious angel just a few short days ago
I love her more than life itself but I loved her enough to let her go
For two short days I held her close in a warm loving embrace
Those beautiful moments in which we bonded my mind will never erase
God gave me a Christian couple that can take care of her every need
But my eyes will always be streaked with tears; my heart will forever bleed
If I could have just one wish our paths will cross again
But I will hold her close in my heart and love her in silence until then
I know I did the right thing. I'm at peace with the Lord above
And I know He will always be watching over "My Little Angel Of Love"

This one is too fun. I made a "date" with my 3 year old grandson to spend the day. We went to the park and fed the ducks. Played on the playground. Did our "homework"..two pages in the sticker book. And made cookies..one of those Betty Crocker mixes..used my Kitchen Aide. Sean got to turn on, off, I scraped down. He did the scooping and the squishing down. They were delicious, of course! And he made them, "All by myself!" Did I mention, he put sprinkles..lots of them on each cookie. I got GRANDMA POINTS for this day.

the mixing blade would help most with my oatmeal cookie dough. I always have to incorporate the extra oats lefyt at the bottom. I get the most use out of my mixer making whipped cream. The cream fat bubbles don't get broken like some mixers so the cream does not separate the next day in the fridge
