2007_12_05-CreusetGiveaway.jpg

Welcome to our Holiday Gift Bag! We are giving away one kitchen product each day through December 21. Happy Holidays from The Kitchn!

12-1-three.jpg Gift: Le Creuset Panini Press and Skillet Set in Kiwi
Designer: Le Creuset
Shop: Available from Amazon for $149.95

We are giving away a Le Creuset panini press and skillet set in Kiwi - a cheery green color. Click through to see a small image of the set in this color and to enter our giveaway. Please be sure to read the instructions thoroughly before entering.

2007_12_05-CreusetGiveaway2.jpgIn these giveaways we really don't want to offer anything we wouldn't use ourselves, and this panini press and skillet are just covet-worthy; too bad we can't enter!

They are very multi-use - even though they are advertised for paninis and other hot sandwiches, a press and grill like this are very handy for meats and other hot fast cooking. The set includes a 9" panini press and a 10 1/4" square skillet grill made from 100% enameled cast iron. They are both fully oven-safe, up to 400F.

To enter the giveaway, please tell us what kind of hot sandwich you'd make with this grill. Any winter favorites? Leave the comment in the comment section below by 8:59 p.m. PT/11:59 ET on FRIDAY, December 7th. The winner will be selected at random.

Please, only one comment per person per giveaway post. Duplicate or unqualified comments will be discarded. I have had a set of Le Creuset since I was first married and REALLY broke. Now that I look back on what an extravigant yet practical investment i made at that time with great pride. Let this lovely pan find it way to join it's 30 year old, much loved and used brethren.

I would make my favorite sandwich in favor of the pan's French origins: a croque monsieur. Good ham, swiss or gruyere, a slathering of dijon mustard (and my little addition: mayo), covered in butter and toasted. Then, a quick transfer to the oven to melt some more cheese on top. Mmmm!

My absolute favorite is: first you take two slices of rustic rosemary sourdough bread, spread some homemade kalamata olive tapenade on one side of both slices, then on one slice put a couple of slices fresh vine ripened tomato on top of the tapenade, then put a couple of basil leaves, and then top with a couple of slices of fresh buffalo mozzarella, put the other tapenade covered slice of bread on top of the mozzarella. Light coat both slices of bread with a little olive oil and "panini" it for a few minutes until golden brown, crusty and oozing tasty melted cheese. When the tomatoes aren't in season, I'll just leave them off.

A few slices of grilled polska kielbasa, caramelized onions and apples seasoned with cinnamon, and a slightly sharp cheddar between slices of a hearty multi-grain bread (best eaten immediately, before the apples make the bread too soggy).

i would probably use the grill pan to grill up some vegetables and then make then into a panini with some assorted cheeses, and some nice thick bread for my wife.

She's a vegetarian, and i don't eat fruits or vegetables, so it's kinda hard to cook for the both of us, this would at least solve me cooking for her.

I think I'd turn my kitchen into a food lab and experiment with different ingredients to find the.best.pannini.ever. It would definitely involve cheese - goat cheese, maybe feta, maybe harvarti, perhaps a sprinkling of asiago. Then bring on the marinated red peppers, the hot peppers, the diced kalamatas or the capers. Shred the beef, or the chicken, or the portabellos. In general I'd have a pannini party and let people go nuts.

And it's in kiwi too! Cute!
