Pumpkins are a natural, of course, and gourds and squash hold up nicely on a dining room table or mantle for several weeks. Anyone got anything quirky or different to share?
There aren't a ton of vegetables or fruit that will stay firm and lovely for long. We think pears are a beautiful sight on a Fall table, but eventually you have to eat them.
Apples hold their shape and firmness pretty well; we could definitely see them piled up in a large glass vase (something similar to this quick citrus centerpiece).
And there are all kinds of things you can do to your produce to make it even more beautiful. We've seen Martha Stewart's glittered pumpkins (above) before, but we always think they look gorgeous—and much easier than some of her other ideas.

I decorated the glittery pumpkins shown in pic 2, two years ago for Thanksgiving after seeing them in Martha Stewart's Living magazine. They were so easy and so gorgeous and I received many compliments on them.
