Tea and Cacao: Farms of Hawaii

It's Garden Month, which means that we're not only looking at our own gardens but the larger fields and farms of agriculture across the world. We were fascinated by this glimpse of tea and cacao plantations in Hawaii...

Author Julie Sloane tours several of Hawaii's farms and you get an up close look at the growing agriculture industries of the islands. We love the shot of the inside of a gooey cacao bean, above. There are photos of tea plantations, more cacao and its process to becoming chocolate, and, yes, geckos too.

thanks so much for this post. sources of tea will be increasingly important in the era of food shortages, environmental decline. hawaii is a huge treasure, vastly misunderstood by most US citizens, perhaps.
